Patriarchy taught a lot of dudes that all they needed to offer was financial security, and they are very mad to realise that these days women aren't (fully) dependent on marriage to achieve financial security, and that's why they want us to aspire to be tradwives
"Men need to spend money to get laid!"

Meanwhile, just the other day...

Get this book into your mits, quickly people!
Was fantastic to be at the launch last night, hear from those involved in its publication & witness some glowing praise for Laura’s writing, from Pip Adam.
So stoked to be holding a copy of Laura’s first novel.

Rita considered the dead. Shut her eyes. Rolled their names around her brain. Stacked each person in order like folded laundry, warm and crisp from the sun. She wondered how her name would sound amongst them.

Now if you haven’t read it, my friend Jessie researched and wrote a fantastic deep dive into the white supremacist roots of this endeavour in great detail, which was published a few days ago.

Striking over workload, safety, pay, staffing and the coherence and sequence of change is industrial, not “party-political”. In Aotearoa the legal test is the purpose of the action, not whether the government’s policy settings form the backdrop.

Damn, I read Judith's letter! I'll leave the politics to others, but, lord, the Govt spending stuff is REALLY BAD! I'll try and keep this short.
First up, this bare-faced lie. The countries in the pink circle have a similar-sized economy to NZ. Govt spending is a lot higher in all but one . [🧵 1/n]

So the Red Cross is doing a donation drive promo with Uber today where you can get donated clothes picked up at your door by an Uber driver for free (AKL, WGTN, CHCH).
So good if you have a lot of clothes but no car.

If we’re looking to prevent sexual violence then there’s a whole lotta things that need to change, men’s attitudes and behaviours towards women and children being the most obvious, but things like this will make a huge impact for those at risk of hurting others.

Up to 5% of Kiwi men attracted to children; could this programme stop them offending?
One researcher said more than 80,000 Kiwi men could be attracted to kids.

1. They don’t care about souring relations they are white supremacists.
2. $20mil is pocket change to a govt, so this is pretty cheap for a nice racist outcome. #nzpol

It’s incredibly disheartening to read this. Negative attitudes that are increasing contribute to behaviours, that contribute to violence against women, children & marginalised people.

We need to tax wealth not work.

Why? Because usually no matter how hard you work, the compound interest on huge wealth grows much faster than your wages + the rich use this passive income to buy all the assets.
