People here won’t want to hear it, but… 🇺🇸 Bluesky is ultimately US as well. 🇩🇪 Mastodon is somewhat decentralised and based in Germany.

I’m *not* saying to quit Bluesky. I am gently suggesting maybe simultaneously giving Mastodon another shot if you’re not over there already.

I will never forget having to edit Jamal’s final, posthumous piece for the Washington Post, after he was murdered.

He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

Opinion | Jamal Khashoggi: What the Arab world needs most is free expression
The Arab world needs a modern version of the old transnational media so citizens can be informed about global events.

Labour MP Simon Opher - "We should stop the boats because it's dangerous, and we should stop the scapegoating of immigrants because it's wrong and cruel.

"Measures that create bureaucracy and insecurity do not offer clarity or strengthen control – they cost money, waste time and weaken the system."

New statement from Labour MP Simon Opher, who is not very happy at the proposed asylum plans: "We should stop the boats because it's dangerous, and we should stop the scapegoating of immigrants because it's wrong and cruel…. We should push back on the racist agenda of Reform rather than echo it."

Again, the only possible explanation is that MTG was recently visited overnight by three ghosts.
BASH: We have seen these attacks from the president at other people. It's not new. And I haven't heard you speak out about it until it was directed at you.

MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE: I think that's fair criticism. And I would like to say, humbly, I'm sorry for taking part in the toxic politics.

"Two years ago, when I discovered there wasn’t a Guinness World Record for the longest time spent playing a trumpet, something clicked. If I could do something nobody else had done, it might draw attention to the value of the music."

I played the trumpet for 25 hours straight:
Experience: I played the trumpet for 25 hours straight
I couldn’t repeat a song, and improvisation wasn’t allowed. I needed a very long set list.

The same people obsessed with historic grooming gangs are not at all interested in the involvement of the powerful with historic grooming gangs

BBC is far from perfect but…people who’d rather have a media run by Murdoch and Paul Marshall will also decry elites in a time of billionaires & food banks
Not the first to make this point. But there is a tyrant in charge of another country who is accused of being heavily linked to a paedophile sex ring - and supposed ‘patriots’ in this country are passionately willing him to take down our national broadcaster. Madness.

I don't think legacy media is reading the room correctly on the Epstein Files. Many of us are asking why they have ignored this story for the last decade? Why did they dismiss all of us who were concerned that Trump might be compromised? And where is their fucking contrition and apology now?

Joking about peoples appearance isn’t on.
Joking about people who have paid thousands to look like the kid who shit himself on the bus is fine.

I’ve been editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue for the last 4.5 years — a dream job, one I never thought a Brown girl from small town Louisiana might hold.

I am so incredibly proud of the work we’ve done and what we accomplished. Our journalism has won major awards. (cont’d)

The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.
