AIPAC-aligned super PAC United Democracy Project spent millions to defeat Tom Malinowski for backing conditions on US aid to Israel. They may help elect Analilia Mejia, a more progressive candidate who deems Israel's actions a genocide. (Race is too close to call.) A spectacular own-goal.

this is quite literally what happens when you a) remain on twitter after it's been overtly retrofitted as a nazi basecamp and b) are already a republican hired by a news outlet that is run by republicans
I'm sorry when was AOC a "left-wing agitator?" She was an elected member of congress. She didn't harass fellow members like MTG did/does.

Is being left of Pelosi considered being an "agitator" by the NYT's?

Does Kellen know what being a "left-wing agitator" means?

If the courts are the only thing standing between Trump and autocracy, we are truly fucked.
It is going to be lawyers and the courts. That is what it was in 2020. It was in 2022 after the first wave. It will be again in 2026.
It's not even a question that Trump is attempting to rig the midterms - he's pretty openly trying - the question is how strong the mechanisms are to stop him.

Less racist things that he was willing to tolerate
I like how he says it’s the “most racist thing I’ve seen out of this White House”, implying there were less racist things.
when you've lost Tim Scott ...

Would be nice if he fought this hard for things that actually matter.

Democrats should defund and restrain ICE to the degree possible. And they should insist on this condition at least: No ICE (or Border Patrol) anywhere near the polls or early voting election locations this fall.
Steve Bannon,
"We're gonna have ICE surround the polls...We'll never again allow an election to be stolen."

This cannot be something a civilian law enforcement agent is allowed to wear in the US — and an agency that has a culture that tolerates this cannot be saved.

What a lot of people who say this is pointless don't understand is that Congress is a stage, and impeachment hearings are the show. Even if the Senate refuses to convict - especially if the Senate refuses - the process is a giant megaphone for driving home what is happening and influencing the vote.
Khanna: "There has to be accountability. Do I think impeaching Kristi Noem is going to solve the issue of ICE? No. But it's gonna send a signal that you can't wield power without a check in this country. And that's what we have with ICE agents smashing windows, following people to churches."

we said all along that they wanted Gawker dead not because we embarrassed a pro wrestler but because the Epstein story is one Gawker was covering a decade before most other people caught up & was just one of many stories exposing powerful people and their misdeeds
Among the batch of newly released emails from Jeffrey Epstein: Epstein telling Peter Thiel he would “gladly share…expenses for the Gawker suit.”

This was sent the day after @rmac.bsky.social and @mattdrange.bsky.social reported in Forbes that Thiel was behind the lawsuit that would bankrupt Gawker

Abolish ICE and fire all agents is the moderate position.
I just got tear gassed along with thousands of union members, many of whom had their families with them. Federal agents at the ICE facility tear gassed children. We must abolish ICE, DHS, and we must have prosecutions. I expect to see enforcement of our city code prohibiting the use of tear gas.

Watch the video as a recklessly driven cheap car careens around and a gang of armed thugs spring out to menace an innocent civilian, like a kidnapping or robbery or murder-for-hire.

It looks like organized crime taking place in a third-world country, because it is.

ICE and CBP agents seem to enjoy gratuitously breaking glass—from car windows to store fronts to homes. It’s an expression of unchecked power and dominance: “We’re in charge. We break and shatter what we want.”

And nights of broken glass have been a harbinger of worse to come.
