Newmarket MP Matt Hancock gave a £37bn Covid testing contract to Jockey Club director Dido Harding, who subcontracted it to Grand National sponsor Randox, employer of Tory MP Owen Paterson, whose late wife chaired Aintree racecourse. That's how the Tories handled the pandemic.

Fellow-passengers to the grave, I endorse this endorsement.
As the holiday season approaches I'll re-up my annual recommendation that you read A Christmas Carol at some point during the season, especially if you've never read it before. It's a classic for a reason. Absolute banger.

People still default too often to the fact that Trumps base won’t care about one revelation or another. But as elections keep showing us, the universe of people other than his base is much bigger and we do care. So exposing shit does matter and it’s worth sharing those things so others oppose him.

Covid inquiry live updates: UK did 'too little, too late' in early Covid response, leading to thousands more deaths
The inquiry says 23,000 lives could have been saved in the first wave England by an earlier lockdown - but also that a lockdown could have been avoided altogether with earlier interventions.

The Covid Inquiry finds that if Boris Johnson had called the first lockdown even one week earlier then it could have saved at least 20,000 lives.

Here's a quick reminder of what Johnson was actually doing during those weeks

Vaccines are safe. Vaccines save lives.

Autism is caused by genetics + environmental triggers.

Extensive studies with millions of kids showed no connection between vaccines and autism.

Doctors vaccinate our kids because we love them and want them to live to be healthy adults.
