Abolish-cages, deportations, prisons. Build-shelter, safety, community. Great Lakes girl in the PNW. 🌱🍜 🥖feeds and sometimes immigration law/policy.
The amount of heartbreaking phone calls I need to make, with no explanation or information when processing will restart, is not small.

We mash up all the leftovers and make these little Thanksgiving fritters called yougots.

So named because years ago, one child (can’t remember which) asked for what ‘yougots’ as we were making leftovers plates, and it stuck.

There's like a dozen House Republican sponsors on the Afghan Adjustment Act. Maybe someone could go ask them how they feel about collective punishment.

What is infuriating about this and so many other immigration policy changes was how preventable they were.
If Congress hadn’t been using immigrants as a political bargaining chip for decades and actually passed something these folks wouldn’t be vulnerable to this admin.

My in-laws are here and I’ve taken two naps today and now I’m in the bathroom checking my phone.

I took too much time off. Should have worked more hours.

I’m not sure a kitten was a good idea for the current moment in life

I seem to have adopted the most chaotic orca cat at the shelter.

a thing about immigrants is that every single one of them is a person, a full human being, no exceptions, whether deemed by this vicious state to be "peaceful" or not smh
This is the scandal. Trump isn’t targeting dangerous people. He’s targeting peaceful immigrants. Almost exclusively.

This litigation is probably the biggest ongoing immigration policy story that you probably don't know about
New: A federal judge in California ruled that Trump's administration cannot impose mandatory detention on thousands of migrants held by U.S. immigration authorities nationally without first giving them an opportunity to seek release on bond. www.reuters.com/legal/govern...

Now this looks like a job for me
So everybody just follow me
'Cause we need a little controversy
'Cause it feels so empty without me
Now, what you hear is not a test, I'm rapping to the beat
And me, the groove, and my friends are gonna try to move your feet
You see, I am Pontifex and I'd like to say hello

Immigration lawyers remember the gov't going down a similar road in Niz-Chavez. Didn't end great for them there.
Do these federal prosecutors understand that an "indictment" is a charging *document*? Like, the actual pages that formally charge someone with a crime?

And what legal route would that be?

DHS is very consistent in criticizing people for not having chosen an option it has made unavailable to them.

We invented borders and invented immigration and then invented ways of making immigration illegal and we invented the relationship between crime and immigration. Immigration “enforcement” is literally an hysterical exercise in the pursuit of a fantasy, it is a mental disorder.

this is a rich (ha) text but I'm especially losing my mind at "she seeks to force residents of Seattle to pay for “free” child care and other goodies"

like man, a person thought up that sentence and allowed it to leave their brain? and other people allowed it to go to print?
You guys realize that taxing people to pay for services isn't socialism, right? This is just how governments work.

Getting annoyed listening to charter school activists lie again and again that charter schools are public schools.

They are not.

They are publicly funded private schools that siphon money away from public schools and produce no better results.
