Nature lover. Was an organic, wildlife friendly gardener: no chemicals; peat free; minimal digging & mowing.
No true peace without justice.
English & proud European.
Born in Hampshire, now living back in Surrey so hubby can care for me.

Two important things to remember at a time like this:

"All it takes for evil to flourish is for good men to stand by and do nothing." - Edward Burke

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." - Margaret Mead
Not been feeling up to saying much lately. Very tired and sleepy, but not much happening. Have family here with me who can update as necessary. Thank you for all your love and good wishes. Karin xx

The Ocean Is Drowning in Our Waste 🌊🗑️
"By 2050, there could be more plastic than fish in the ocean.
🐢 100,000 marine animals die from plastic yearly.
💡 Solutions exist:
✅ Ban single-use plastics
✅ Hold corporations accountable
✅ Invest in circular economies

The lack of ambition in Ireland for nature is the most challenging aspect in any ecological work.

We need this to change.

One way this can change is the public pressuring their elected officials to act in the interest of nature.

Politicians react to public pressure.
I emailed a letter to my local TD and Minister of State for Nature and Biodiversity, Christopher O'Sullivan on the government's plans to abandon Marine Protected Areas.

Please write to your local government TDs asking them not to shaft our marine ecosystems and coastal communities like this!!!

Groups of 13 to 20 #Swifts around St. Anne's Church, #Lewes. We were treated to 12 screaming fly-pasts before seeing entries to nests 1, 3 and 6. There were loud calls from several other nests!
Further up Western Road, we saw an entry to nest 2 and both Swifts returned to nest 3.

#Riverwoods act as corridors, connecting different patches of woodland and helping wildlife move through the landscape.

The beginning of Saturday’s sunset through the hospital window from my bed. I’ve been in since Thursday lunchtime.
New treatment tried yesterday which has made me feel a bit better and a bit less tired. With luck I can home today, but that’s not definite.
I was lucky to have been given a fan.

Apart from all the benefits for British nature, it would massively shift the dial on the conversation in Ireland: we'd be pretty much the last place in Europe not to have them.
