We hope you’ve all being enjoying the recent snow as much as this wee cutie! Red squirrels are well-adapted to winter life, growing thicker coats and fluffier ears, and spending more time in their dreys. The food caching they did in autumn comes in handy too!

Suspected grey squirrel in Den Wood, near Hazlehead Park, Aberdeen! Please report any squirrels you see to scottishsquirrels.org.uk/squirrel-sig...

Red squirrels can look grey in colour, and greys can be ginger! Look out for a white ‘halo’ around the tail, only seen on greys, and their larger size.

Did you know that squirrels don’t hibernate? Despite this common misconception, both red and grey squirrels are active all year round.
