The problem with the BBCs balanced reporting - it's not balanced. It's been known for years. Nevertheless, I will support them against Trump

Regretfully (for the sake of the authors and journal staff), I have this morning declined an invitation to review for a @royalsociety.org journal because of the Society’s continued refusal to stand up for its values in dealing with Elon Musk FRS.

And this deluded nutcase, who is daily boosting fascists on both sides of the Atlantic with his hogwash... is *still* a member of the august (and gutless) Royal Society.
Elon Musk, "These lovely small towns in England, Scotland and Ireland, they've been living their lives quietly. They're like hobbits"

"And so one day, 1,000 people show up in your village of 500 and start raping the kids"

"This has now happened, God knows how many times in Britain"

How can this be remotely acceptable in a democracy.
Who needs to turn up in body armour & tac gear, plain clothes & MASKED, to arrest a mother on the school run?

Answer: the secret police.
ICE detains mother dropping off child at elementary school—refuses to even look at her U.S. legal papers.

"What documents?" agent sarcastically replies—holding up the folder.

"The ones in your hands!" witnesses yell back.

As someone who has worked on the blood-brain barrier for a large part of his last 40 years as a research scientist RFK Jr just needs to shut up. He should try and restrict his comments to things he is knowledgeable about. Now what on earth could that be.....🤔?

I suspect that indeed they have just made this matter worse for themselves. The trouble with this statement from Adrian Smith is that it conflicts with the RS's Code of Conduct (e.g. below).

To consider half the USA population as the enemy as POTUS does is deeply worrying. His comment to lay off Democrat federal workers is appalling. What ever happened to the principle of once democratically elected your duty is to looking after everyone’s interest.

Farage built Brexit, and Brexit broke Britain.

Nigel Farage is the cause of the mess we’re in - not the solution.

Now why doesn't this surprise me?
Michael Crick, journalist: “It depresses me how much fellow political journalists are down-playing this - a dranatic story not just about Russia corrupting a British politician - as they've done in Germany & France - but also about the character judgement+relationships of Reform leaders Farage+Tice”
“The former leader of Reform UK in Wales has pleaded guilty to bribery charges relating to making statements in favour of Russia while being an elected member of the European Parliament.” 1/

Perhaps Chris Mason can offer an explanation to this.
For 56 minutes Sky News and BBC News interrupted everything else and carried a Reform UK feed live, uninterrupted, unchallenged. The stream spluttered, froze, pixelated - dozens of times - still they stuck with it. FOR ONE HOUR.

The actions of Musk are not acceptable and it will be revealing who does or does not join Ed Davey in condemning him.
Lib Dem leader Ed Davey: “I've written to Keir Starmer, Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage, urging them to join me in condemning Elon Musk's dangerous remarks inciting violence yesterday.

“As leaders, we must stand together and make clear Musk will face serious consequences for these actions.”

Ed gets it. Where are the Labour high command?
Elon Musk openly called for violence on our streets yesterday.

I hope politicians from all parties come together to condemn his deeply dangerous and irresponsible rhetoric.

Britain must stand united against this clear attempt to undermine our democracy.

As a young man fascinated by biology Bronowski enthralled me. I still have his book The ascent of man. His wisdom and all encompassing view of the world helped shape my views as a scientist. This man was a true polymath and in an era of emerging endarkenment will remain a beacon of light.
No one says it like Bronowski.

The beginning of the end? So shocking and so sad that the USA has come to this.
Fascism
NEW: Wearing masks, no ID, unmarked & blacked out cars, refusing to say what agency they’re from and using profanity with any press & public nearby.

This was at 14th & R in Washington DC, this morning (Sunday).

What the hell is happening to the US?
