A group of our volunteers have just had a tour of the excellent new Heating and Ventilating Academy Workshop at Stratford-upon-Avon College. It hosts professional training for people from local companies wanting to enter the market for #heatpump installation, commissioning and maintenance.

Had a really interesting tour of Stratford College's new Heating and Ventilating Academy Workshop. We were introduced to the facilities and the need for such a training centre by Professor Mike Leonard from Birmingham City University's Centre for Future Homes. Local training for a future workforce!

On the plus side, puddle-stampy.

Productivity increases between 5% and 13% with working from home, and worker wellbeing improves hugely too.

But Farage doesn't care about reality. Or productivity. Or your wellbeing.

He cares about the workplace property investors who bankroll him.

Today was one of those days when I'm glad I have to walk 5km to my sandy #allotment, rather than 5 minutes round the corner to the allotment site on heavy clay next to the local brook. Bit damp on some of the plots on that site, and the woods next to them that I walked through.

Been working all morning so flicked over to BBC News when nibbling my lunch only to find we're apparently at the "live video of the front door of Number 10 waiting for the lectern to come out" stage of a UK Government. 😳

I was going to mention these the last time I was on @lborouniversity.bsky.social campus, but I never got a good photo (too dark or too wet!). These new #electric #buses are great - comfy, quiet and spacious. Glad to finally see them in use.

It took over an hour with the digital microscope and a couple of fine pointed tweezers but I think I've fixed the E key that popped off one of my laptops last week. A really fiddly repair.

Also never look at your laptop keyboard under a microscope. You'll never want to touch it again. 🤢🤮

An 8km completely segregated foot and cycle route planned along an old narrow gauge railway line in Croatia, with another 1.6km already built. Shows #ActiveTravel infrastructure building is a worldwide thing as governments are realising its many benefits.

Now trying to determine how long I sit in the greenhouse reading Bluesky, doom scrolling the news and watching water run down the glass before conceding this rain is here for the afternoon and I'm going to have a wet 5km journey home. 🤔🌧️🌧️

And rain stops play. I'm sheltering in the greenhouse as a heavy downpour turns the allotment to mud, but at least I've had a start on clearing what will be the potato bed. Got a month or two to get it ready still, so no rush. #gardening #allotment

Decided to try planting out the hardy early sown peas. They can do one of two things as my Dad used to say, and I'll be sowing again for succession anyway.

The old Debenhams department store in Bristol has been turned into an indoor skate part called "Shredenhams". Lots of little kids crashing about in the morning, and teens/adults in the evening. Great use of vacant urban spaces.

Many things have been sharpened, lots of chats have taken place and lots of people seemed happy after today's #RepairCafe. 🔩🔧

I was sufficiently busy that I didn't get a chance to drink the mug of tea the refreshments folk made for me, so time to get a drink now I'm home. And maybe a bit of cake.🍰

It's #RepairCafe day in #StratfordUponAvon. I'll be sharpening things as usual, so if it's too grey and wet to be in the garden with your secateurs and loppers, bring them along to get sharpened instead!
This Saturday is the first of the month, and so that means that it is #RepairCafe day here in #StratfordUponAvon. 10am-2pm at the Methodist Church hall in Old Town.

Bring your broken stuff and see if we can fix it. Sewing, sharpening, electrical repair, bikes, etc all welcome!

Ah, its good to know that the hundreds of millions of pounds spent on UK motorways over the last decade or so were... oh... a "catastrophic waste of time, money and effort".

Maybe spend some of it on active transport instead in the future so less people need to drive?

Amazing that the "|Retirement Homes" scam hasn't been exposed before. Hopefully this will bring it to an end. Anotherbrick in the wall of unaffordable housing and an almost unbelievable illustration of home "ownership" not being what the victim is led to believe. #HousingCrisis

Nowadays, of course, a dystopia would have a much simpler title. Like 'X', for example.
