This seems to be the elephant in the room.
The tariffs are meant to be permanent. Trump has said MANY times that he wants tariffs to replace or nearly eliminate the income tax (see this thread for examples). The media continues to frame his tariffs as a “bargaining chip” for other things. Tariffs ARE the objective.
So much self-inflicted suffering is coming because Trump thinks he can simply trade the income tax for the infinitely more regressive consumption tax (tariffs). The tariffs aren’t about fentanyl or other countries “ripping us off” — they’re about enriching oligarchs, but the plan will never work.

They want to build a nuclear reactor on the Moon now. It's Sean Duffy's first big move at NASA.

“It is about winning the second space race,” said a NASA senior official, granted anonymity to discuss the documents ahead of their wider release.

Remember: Almost all of us are the descendants of immigrants who fled persecution, or were brought to America under duress, or sought better lives for themselves and their descendants.

Politicians who stoke fear and hatred over immigration want you to forget this.

Do not.

Colbert was the the highest rated late night show host. The message is: Emmy's, ratings, and name recognition won't save you. You criticize the oligarchs and this administration, your show is done.
