They have classified Pluribus as a “thriller”, and perhaps that’s the shape it will take at some point for me, but I’m spending a lot of time thinking about societal logistics more than anything else as I watch it.

This is supercool, a real-world validation of the Belyayev Russian Fox experiments. But also the raccoons at my house seem to be getting more and more thuggish, so I dunno.

City Raccoons Are Evolving to Look More Like Pets

Conservation friends with the Ruru nest box have been stressing that there's no nesting going on, just "3 or 4 in a polycule open relationship" and I'm like, look, that explains it: no one actually has sex in polycules, they're all too busy scheduling with each other

We built highways to connect our towns.

But then we never stopped building them, even when the interstate highway system was finished.

This is because we fundamentally misunderstand crucial facts about highways:

Never enough ponies. Time for me to re-read Marguerite Henry in I don’t know how long. (Who knows where my beloved, dog-eared copy of Misty of Chincoteague vanished to years ago.)
Yes, it is set in Chincoteague mid-2040s and there are ponies. Probably too many ponies. Or not enough ponies. Rockets too. Which, I guess, Chincoteague currently has pony and rocket problems, too. You'll just have to read it.

Her last day in the council can’t come soon enough. I shudder to think the shit she’s going to up to during the lame duck session.
Council President Nelson pulled the amendment from @councilmember-amr.bsky.social to add $400,000 to restore funding to tenant services for a full council vote. This is an amendment supported by the Seattle Renters' Commission.

POLITICIANS: Here is how you answer that question: "King County sets the gold standard for ballot access, security and accuracy. The process includes multiple layers of quality control, tracking, and voter feedback to ensure every ballot is counted and the will of the people is upheld."
OK, "misunderstanding" is the wrong word here. There's a purposeful disinformation campaign from right wingers in WA to sow doubt about our elections. I honestly can't believe @mayorofseattle.bsky.social Harrell would say something like this, especially after the good stuff he said prior.

The national takes on Wilson’s election are an amusing reminder that no one pays attention to the reality of our politics or culture—coasting on 90s nostalgia and conflating us with Portland.

And this is true for everyone who only interprets local news for ANY city through a national lens.

Watching Harrell’s concession speech to cement in my brain how very bad he is at this job.

I’m not even past the part where he’s “thanking people with his mind” and he’s casting aspersions on Wilson and the integrity of the election?

Christ on a cracker.

"This could take down Democrats, too."

I know. And I frankly wouldn't give even an itty bitty damn if it implicated every Democratic man in Congress, every Democratic hopeful for 2028 and every Democrat who has even thought about running for office.

Down with the sex predators, wherever they are.
