Disability scholar here yet again to remind you that dropping COVID protections and getting “back to normal” facilitated their vision.

It’s exhausting to point out yet again that abandoning disabled people is eugenics, and eugenics feeds the rise of fascism and to have most ppl just…ignore it

its insane that drafting as an occupation used to just involve countless huge rooms of dads in shirts and ties, scattered all over the country, leaning over tables with their asses perked up all day as their 9-5 job

My pattern recognition DO be making people think I am an actual witch sometimes, but it really is just autism 😩
“I asked ChatGPT” yeah well I asked my autistic friend whose pattern recognition gives her borderline prophetic accuracy even though no one ever listens to her because she’s awkward and has bad timing and says the wrong thing and has no control over her body or volume or brain or

Quick expert source call out: I'm working on a piece this week about doing things alone, and am looking to speak to experts/researchers on solo activities, how community and enjoying doing things alone aren't necessarily at odds with each other, etc. rainesford.alexandra@gmail.com or DMs open!

Franzi Schimmer captured this Grizzly bear in Brooks Falls, Alaska just floating along, tippy-tapping down the river, browsing the salmon.

Prior to hibernation, up to 40% of a bear's body mass is fat, which is less dense than water (~0.9 g/cm^2), so the murder-monster is also a floaty-boaty.

For fat people, that means that the gnarliest anti-fat assholes in our lives are being told, day in & day out, that their bigotry and biases are correct and virtuous. They get to reassure themselves that their bullying of fat people is somehow a service to us.

That's not to say that the existence of GLP-1s are directly making people more bigoted in their anti-fatness. But their marketing relies on extremely anti-fat tropes, floods the airwaves with anti-fat messages, and sends the message that anti-fatness is not just pro-health, it's morally righteous.

When we talk about the ~ozempic discourse~ it's easy to think about that as a kind of broad social or marketing pressure that's applied equally to everyone with a body.

It's worth noting that it shows up in more acute & targeted ways, too. I'm getting more emails like this one than I have in years.

Saw a very conventionally attractive thin person deep in V Day hate mode post "Nothing like going on a work trip with a bunch of young, beautiful social butterflies to remind you that you're weird, ugly, and lonely" and wanted to send them anon hate for a second lol I can't with you people

The funniest part about this line of thinking is later Clive Barker revealed just how homophobic his publisher was, and I think about the number of times this has happened that we will never hear about. www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/0/clive-b...

Hi, my arm won't raise without blinding pain. I don't know how to beg without acting like a sick animal hiding under your porch. I can't cook, or type on a keyboard, im on my stomach using my left hand on my phone. Shits bad
Hi folks. I am missing work due to injury again. I should be able to recoup lost wages from workers comp but if it's anything like last time, it'll take time. I'd like to raise $50 for groceries and laundry quarters (I can't carry much right now but delivery is very expensive)

Thank you, sorry
I am extremely worried about rent, cat food, my burnout, all of it. I am short on all rent and bills and I have to leave my job or I'll die. If you can help me through this, I am grateful

I generally support the idea of telling people they have more time than they think, that they don't have to have it all figured out by 30, but... feels harder to assert in this era where it feels like everyone is dying by 50.

If I had a dollar for every time someone generalized about lit fic to me, and then it turned out their definition of it is several decades old and informed solely by something they were assigned to read in high school or college, I could retire. 😭
As one anecdote, I got into a long convo with someone who kept saying all contemporary American literary fiction was "postmodernist" and I kept asking what specific novels they were talking about. Eventually they said "I was thinking of when I was in college 20 years ago and was assigned Barthes."
February 11, 2026 at 3:29 PM
God this is so true, and it irks me to no end.
I would conservatively estimate that 90% of literary discourse online is driven by people who literally do not read what they're pontificating about. They complain about contemporary fiction, literary fiction, genre fiction, postmodernism, YA books, whatever that they just do not read.
