There's some significant magical thinking going on in this claim, actually several levels of magical thinking.

Since October, federal courts have ruled more than 4,400 times that ICE is illegally jailing immigrants.

Now the agency wants to spend $38B to turn warehouses across the country into detention camps.

Remember that some of Trump's biggest supporters are private prison companies running these camps.

President Trump keeps threatening to unilaterally impose rules (like voter ID requirements) on upcoming elections.

Monday’s "One First" explains why—whether as a matter of constitutional law, existing federal statutes, or simple, practical logistics—his (ominous) threats are ultimately empty ones:
210. The President's Lack of Power Over Elections
President Trump keeps insisting that he can unilaterally change the rules for voting in the midterms. It's not just that he's *wrong*; it's that there's no mechanism through which he could even *try.*

Nope. Wealthy hoard wealth much more than they spread it around. Look at 40+ years of trickle down compared to 60 years of taxing the wealthy and big business.
Trade Representative Jamieson Greer on tariffs: "It's not regressive. Most consumption in America is done by the wealthiest people. So the idea it's somehow regressive is just wrong."

Not only did Trump fail to learn any lessons from covid, but his public health policies have somehow gotten far more dangerous and destructive in Trump 2.0. God forbid he and RFK Jr have to handle a global pandemic. We'll be pining for the days of Dr. Birx.

If Trump's seizure of Venezuela's oil is simply "diplomacy," so were Bonnie and Clyde's visits to banks.
Chris Wright on seized Venezuelan oil: "We've sold about $1 billion of oil so far. We've recently signed agreements to sell about another $5 billion in the next several months. So you're talking well north of $10 billion a year ... this is way out of the box, groundbreaking Trump diplomacy."

In a way, not surprising at all. Public officials like Dr. Birx (who was actually a respected expert on AIDS before Covid) and Fauci often restrained Trump's impulses and Trump hated it. He believes Covid cost him the election (and it did). His new appointees are a revenge against public health.
