By the way, Freydis Moon has a new book coming out in which this white person writes about subverting slavery by having a Black man owning a white woman. Like Freydis has the depth or the right to write something like this.

“That's 40 *cents*. Cents are a form of currency one hundred times smaller than the reál. I'm not even going to take this. Come back when you have 130 reál.”

Isn't it... evil? The order of magnitude between what is asked of a person -- and what they have?

Speaking of shut the fuck up Friday, I’ve been seeing some people say that the FBI has contacted them for questioning after seeing social media posts, and my extremely urgent advice is that you should under NO CIRCUMSTANCES talk to the Feds without a lawyer.

10,000 workers at 10 Amazon facilities are organized with the Teamster. So far 8 facilities have announced strike authorizations and it looks like all ten might do it. Hopefully it’s the start of something massive.
BREAKING: Amazon drivers at a major Atlanta facility have voted unanimously to authorize a strike.

They join @teamsters.bsky.social in NYC, Illinois, and California in authorizing strikes at Amazon in the lead up to Christmas — the company's busiest days.

One of the easiest and most impactful things the Left can do rhetorically is stop positioning ourselves as outsiders. Stop talking about "the workers" like you're not one of them. Start thinking and talking about your life, and why you, as a working class person, believe the things you do.

I am being so sincere: please make an effort to go to museums in your area and also libraries and places where culture exists physically. I don't think it's a hot take to say that letting all of culture exist by algorithmic dictate on our phones is Not Good. This is an easy way to counteract that.
I love a weird little museum. Please support your local weird little museum.

when Tracy Chapman sang "crying on the doorsteps of those armies of salvation" she was drawing a line straight from the Starvation Army's days of union busting anf the contempt with which they treat the poor.
I know it's a tad early but I know those bitches with the buckets will be out soon. Don't gove them a penny. The volunteers may not know but the salvation army is no ally and actively combative and harmful to many queer minorities especially during the holiday season

Unions belong in every workplace. There shouldn’t be a choice between buying local and buying beer brewed by someone who has a pension and healthcare.
The overwhelming majority of craft brewery workers remain without unions at a time when they’d most benefit from them. But to paraphrase an old labor saw: the best time to organize for better working conditions is before shit goes bad; the second-best time is before shit gets worse.
The Best Time to Unionize Your Craft Brewery Is Before Anheuser-Busch Shuts It Down
In 2018, I wrote a story for Splinter about the craft brewing industry’s vexingly low density of labor unions. Workers I spoke with back then were frustrated about low pay, bad or nonexistent healthca...
