Carney’s “joke” is actually an admission that the government has no capacity to assess & implement digital economic policy (which is to say, economic policy). And instead of treating this as a problem to be solved, he’s cutting capacity further and turning policymaking over to industry.
Bad, indeed.

The federal government just dismissed charges against this woman who it had accused of deliberately attacking its agents and trying to kill them. Instead, it now appears they tried to murder her. Will Chicago or Illinois police prosecute?

The crime is what ICE agents are doing on the other side of the door.

Nice to see a defence analysis that realistically grapples with the fundamental F-35 compromise: they would always remain under US control.
This must be the starting point of any F-35 evaluation.
(BTW, what they describe is a de facto kill switch.)

"Legal experts point out that this effectively hands Trump the authority to unilaterally execute civilians who are not waging war against the United States in any recognizable sense."

Read that again, I had to.
Trump's illegal murders in the Caribbean just got worse. An internal DOJ memo on the bombings says the victims are waging war on the US, but per NYT, it extensively cites the WH's *own claims* to this effect as evidence!

It gets even darker than that. 1/

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

As far as punishing an attempted coup goes, that’s about as weak as it gets.

Not exactly the kind of thing that makes people think twice.

Trump:

- Doesn’t want to talk about prices or employment.

- Is asking SCOTUS *right now* to let him stop funding SNAP so he can use hunger as a weapon.

- Is still lying about trillions of dollars in tariffs.

All while he builds a ballroom and remodels the White House.

The White House has been boasting about the revenue that its tariffs are raising.

And now their argument to the Supremes is that the President has imposed regulatory tariffs, not revenue-generating tariffs, and so case isn't about the power to tax. (Nonsense, obv.)

Here it is, the Constitutional crisis people feared, Trump openly and flagrantly defying a court order. And it's over... denying Americans food. We are literally facing a Constitutional breakdown over SNAP funds.

This administration is making mistake after mistake. They can be beaten.
Trump says the SNAP money that he’s been ordered by a court to release won’t be released until the government shutdown ends.
