For Veterans Day I remember my dad, who was drafted to Vietnam. I grew up around veterans, bitter, angry, traumatized by a war that they shouldn't have been in, that they literally never signed up for. I don't trust people who enlist and are proud of their service. It's anathema to me, shameful.

Disturbing number of people I like who are changing their reopy options to only people they follow. Sorry, it's my principle to unfollow anyone who does that (on every post, once in a while for certain topics is fine). I use this app for conversations, not to receive declarations from on high.

sometimes i feel like the republican party is a big tornado that is coming to kill me. and the democratic party is the rickety shed that i'm hiding in. and i say "we should really fix this shed, because it's not doing much." and people say "what? why aren't you criticizing the tornado instead?!"

Since the Democrats worked extra hard to hide who actually supported this, I think the No Kings/Resistance position should be to primary every Democrat unless they publicly call for Schumer's ouster this week

Either they go into total rebellion mode, which they won't, or the people will

Primary every Democrat, they need to get the message.

I would like even one Democratic voter to explain why ending this shutdown for nothing is a good idea.
November 10, 2025 at 12:32 AM
I want to hear from a Republican voter why this is a good thing worth endorsing

If this happens Schumer needs to be immediately removed from leadership.

I've been annoyed for almost 40 years now that the two Care Bears movies give contradictory origins for the Care Bear Cousins.

one thing i find crazy-making is the idea that getting rid of the filibuster would make congress a purely majoritarian institution. bicameralism itself is counter-majoritarian! equal state representation is counter-majoritarian! the fact that senate elections are staggered is counter-majoritarian!

Their punishment should be harsher but this would be a good start.
Absolutely sadistic.

A Dem Congress should pass a law banning anyone who is currently serving with ICE or CBP from future Fed employment.

The Feds should condition all future Fed grants to police depts on blanket refusals to hire ppl who were in ICE/CBP right now.
Or Rodney Taylor, a disabled double amputee who’s been in America since he was two years old.

He was days away from receiving new prosthetic legs when ICE grabbed him

His health is declining, they won’t let him get his legs and they’ve placed him in solitary

This perfectly encapsulates how I feel living in the US. The republican party is an insane death cult, the democratic party is 3 corporations in a trench coat, and the "socialists" are just the completely normal left-wing capitalists you'd find in any of 2 dozen European nations.
Europeans recognize Zohran Mamdani’s supposedly radical policies as ‘normal’
Critics of New York City’s mayor-elect have said his pledges of free bus service and universal childcare are unrealistic, but in Europe it’s a given

Everybody working for ICE is evil and any action taken against them is morally justified.

Catching up on #AEWDynamite and just wondering what happened to AR Fox? He was really getting over big for a while there.

Republican Party policy is that there are certain US citizens who shouldn't be allowed to vote or have representation
Trump: "They're gonna make DC a state and they're gonna make Puerto Rico a state. So now they pick up two states, four senators. They're gonna pick up electoral votes. It's gonna be a very, very bad situation. Now, if we do what I'm saying, they'll most likely never obtain power."

The 'Moderate' slate championed by Jacobs was massacred on a night when the rest of the party across the country had its best election in generations.

We need to purge the whole of the NY Dems operation.
Has New York Democratic Party chairman Jay Jacobs resigned over Mamdani yet? I hope he hasn't, so that he can instead resign over *improving Republican margins over Trump 2024 in an anti-Republican wave election*. Trump won Nassau by just 4%—now look at this bloodbath
