A veteran being "proud of their service" doesnt mean they are proud of the actions the US Military takes around the world .

For most (at least before 2024) Joining the military isnt an effort to support genocide or inflict imperialism.

For most, its the opposite.

You won't see Democrats putting Venezuelan flags in their profile next to the Ukrainian flags because they agree with Trump in ending the sovereignty of socialist nations.
Also the victims aren't white.

Perfect natural experiment. If Biden and Congress had treated the Jan 6th insurrection like the treason it was and jailed the people behind it, Trump’s power would have shriveled on the vine.

The headline cycle this weekend has been.. interesting.

it's almost as if they really really really want us to pay attention to them instead of having a happy holiday weekend.

I've been ranting about this so much lately. I desperately long for the weeks of hours I'd spend a year in bookstores and libraries just working my way up and down the isles reading whatever seemed interesting in the moment for my (yet to be diagnosed or understood) adhd brain.
The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

The fuck they aren't.
Everyone says this shit has a pile of ancestors who would slap the ever loving shit out of them for suggesting "low skill" blue collar workers don't deserve to seek better lives by immigrating to the USA.

The tribal nations of North America should join together and with their combined legal and financial strength, sue the living fuck out of JD Vance, and the administration for this glaring act of hate speech filled vitriolic slander against all of their peoples.

What hardly anyone knows: they can poison the water that remains.

And in eastern Oregon, Amazon is doing exactly that.

Which never includes the idea of having more cops or getting rid of 'undesirable people' because that makes me want to ride it less.

The visceral anger inside me is fueled by shit like this.
ICE deported a woman who owned a home in the US for 30 years. A judge banned ICE from deporting her to Sierra Leone where she had been tortured, so it deported her to Ghana, which kidnapped her and sent her back Sierra Leone anyway. ICE is part of this illegal conspiracy.

You can say ICE is being used as a political cudgel to demolish democracy, or you can recognize that’s all they ever have been since their inception.

I just want to state something in regards to Portland politics.

Revoking the ICE facility's permit IS a bad idea.
It gives them excuse to move ALL Portland residents who are taken by them to a location more difficult to access by lawyers and families.
It makes oversight MORE difficult.
