Recovering people-pleaser, hoping for benevolent government. Far too optimistic. Gardening and painting allows me to find the strength to follow the politics 🇬🇧🇨🇦

I suppose as people are following me I should say something. I live in Northumberland. It’s beautiful and wild but only 15 minutes from a M &S food hall, living the dream

Hey Labour

Remember the majority of voters who believe in treating people decently and not stealing from those who've endured months and years of hardship fleeing war and persecution to seek a place of safety?

We're still over here 👋

Literally we're at the banging head against wall stage of things here. What is wrong with this government?
If you want more significant numbers of asylum seekers to work and find their own housing, rather than rely on statutory asylum provision, then you presumably need to…allow them to work? What am I missing

If you’re feeling a bit sad it might help a little to know that this painting exists. It’s called Dynamism of a dog on a leash, by Giacomo Galla, 1912:

Night night sweet dreamies

One day you will find all the answers.

But for now, focus on enjoying the present, trusting your choices, and believing in yourself.
You’re exactly where you need to be.

Good morning and welcome to Fish For Tea Friday

You don’t need perfection to move forward, just one steady step and a bit of belief in yourself
Choose lightness where you can, strength where you need it, and hope in the unsure spaces.
You’re doing better than you think.

As the day folds into night, let kindness be the last thing you carry.
A soft word, a small gesture, a quiet thought of hope, these are the moments that make the world gentler
Sleep well, knowing even the smallest kindness can echo far beyond today.

Genuinely shocked by this story

If you needed a heart op, would it ever enter your mind that your cardiologist might be in hock to a (substandard) manufacturer?!

Honestly, I did NOT have "punching the air and going HELL YES to Chris Patten" on my bingo card today. But what he says is SO rarely said and needed saying SO badly!

"How shall we treat Mr Farage's concerns? Shall we hail Brexit a tremendous success? Something that has cost the country billions?"
SUPERB and angrily unvarnished response, by former BBC chairman, Lord Patten.

"I don't think that we should allow ourselves to be bullied into thinking that the BBC is only any good, if it reflects the prejudice of the last person who shouted at it." ~AA

A reminder that this anti-trans panic is 100% bullshit and exactly none of our country’s problems are related to someone expressing their gender identity and everyone who isn’t a hate-filled weirdo knows it.

When I was first elected, evidence showed it would take 193 years to bring London's air pollution within legal limits.

Due to our policies, we've done it in 9.

In Brazil this week, we showed that cities are giving the world reason to hope when it comes to tackling the climate emergency.

Solar’s price drop is astonishing: panels are now 98% cheaper than when I first analyzed them in 2004.

Today, building a fence with solar can be cheaper than using wood.
