First, because bigots should be shunned always, and our shunning emboldens others to shun; and second, because queer people who are not out (but are there, and listening), especially kids, need to know you have their backs for real.

Watching those clips of Cambridge students “debate” Charlie Kirk and wondering how a community college dropout became an expert on universities.

Texas makes yet another dumb decision.
Texas Legislature approved permanent DST. History shows it’s a deadly failure. Call Governor Abbott at 512-463-1782. Tell him to veto HB 1393, so we can replace with naturally safer permanent Standard Time.

It's not discussed in all the stories. But a key feature of the revocation of student visas is that there's no notification. This has forced universities to do regular online reviews of current visas to see which have disappeared since the previous query. The lack of notification is by design.

Why weren’t these anti-global trade folks in Seattle in 1999?
LUTNICK: America will be the most extraordinary, the most powerful place. And Americans are behind Donald Trump.

DOKOUPIL: Economists clearly are not at the moment. They think this is gonna be trouble.

Thurmond was the same age as Booker when he set the record Senator Cory Booker just broke.

Thurmond was afforded a bathroom break and read from the encyclopedia. Booker held the floor the entire time and delivered a consistent, cogent speech for more than 24 hours.

Incredible.

Was surprised to see Boston’s Mayor Wu on this list of Mayors for Parks considering her support of the privatization of White Stadium in Franklin Park. But then I read the statement of purpose and the first 2 paragraphs focus on property values and private capital.

I'm still very angry that @chrismurphyct.bsky.social and @blumenthal.senate.gov voted for Rubio as SoS. But at least Murphy has admitted that it was a mistake.
This is Marco Rubio explaining how the USA promised to defend Ukraine forever if they got rid of their nuclear arsenal left after the Soviet Union fell.

This is why lil marco was sinking into the couch. He was hoping we wouldn’t find it…so don’t RT right now this very second.

I keep waiting for them to change the names of all these agencies pushing Newspeak to the Ministry of Truth.
I was just told that I have to remove “climate” from the title of an ongoing grant if I want to keep it. And publications from that grant cannot include “climate” and other forbidden words. I can’t believe I’m writing this from the United States of America. #AcademicSky
Just received an email saying that it's not advisable to include the following words in future applications for research funding to the US DOT. Here we are.
