Boston Globe comment by WeBuiltThisCity, worth a read.

Another stunt by Trump to satisfy his base of white nationalists.

In an age when billionaires are routinely celebrated for charitable contributions at a mere fraction of their earnings, requiring absolutely no sacrifice whatsoever…

Hat tip to the Herald for celebrating an anonymous donation. Really refreshing.

Lots of thoughts on civility, among them with this week’s headlines:

Consider acknowledging the achievements of colleagues. Winning is not a zero-sum game.

A recent $7 million SNAP fraud case was an "anomaly," not an example of errors the Trump administration has highlighted.

Just a gentle reminder as Councilor Flynn pounds the table demanding “zero tolerance” policing of shoplifters, while the City and DA have done admirable work trying to thread the needle:

As I understand, criminal justice pros view “zero tolerance” policing unfavorably for good reason.

My own view:
Never saw "Les Mis," but the book Les Misérables focused on a relentless pursuit of a man who stole a loaf of bread.

As we cut SNAP benefits while calling for harsher penalties on shoplifters, it's tough not to see parallels.

We're living under some very dark clouds IMO. 💔

Shoplifting arrests are up because enforcement increased. The Retailers Association, Downtown Biz Alliance and even the Herald EB (today) have praised BPD and the Wu admin.

But Clr. @edflynnforboston.bsky.social, playing Trump's "City in chaos" drumbeat, persists in promulgating a false narrative.

Below, the anti-Wu response elicited by Councilor @edflynnforboston.bsky.social as he falsely claims that there’s been a significant uptick in shoplifting, fully aware that there has been a widely-acknowledged increase in enforcement.

102 “likes” on Facebook.

While Councilor @edflynnforboston.bsky.social is actively convincing constituents that there’s been a massive uptick in shoplifting — and a large number of his constituents are buying that bogus claim on Facebook — even the anti-Wu Herald can recognize the actual news.
December 23, 2025 at 1:01 PM
If BPD stepped up traffic enforcement and issued twice as many speeding tickets, would Councilor @edflynnforboston.bsky.social tell his constituents there was a massive increase in reckless driving?

Politicization of data deserves to be called out. Corrections welcome.
Shoplifting arrests are up dramatically as a result of increased enforcement by BPD.

But Councilor @edflynnforboston.bsky.social is claiming that the increase represents “significantly increased shoplifting.” His FB audience is buying it.

See today’s quotes from the Retailers Association et al.

Link to MCCA audit, a good read! www.mass.gov/audit/audit-...

Crazy ”post-audit activity:” MCCA hired an outside law firm to examine the sketchy bid process for the development of parcels on D Street and E Street. MCCA has declined to provide OSA with the external report! Cc @jonchesto (on x)
Remember the dragon sculpture next to #LawnOnD at the Convention Center?

Remember how it disappeared overnight without a trace in 2022?

Reading the MCCA audit and learning about the shenanigans in artist selection. Apparently a two week bidding process was rigged.
