That explains a lot about them:
The New York Times is a pro-slavery magazine that is always made itself more important than it is.

Historically, if somebody is pushing for slavery or something that will lead to it, the New York Times is right there excited to chant "slaves for profit!"

They started as an anti-abolitionist magazine, making economics excuses to maintain keeping people as slaves.

That's a changing topic with me.

Used to be detective stories, then SF and Horror, and now it's a lot of Romance and Urban Fantasy.

Love the escapism, be it space and aliens, monsters, mysteries, werewolves, or beautiful young people falling respectfully in love with each other.

Earthlight, by Arthur C. Clarke is a genre favourite for me.

What makes it standout is that it is for Clarke's writing a fairly action packed novel, a to the point mix of amateur spy adventure and interplanetary conflict, and a tad more realistic as a lot of other 50s SF fare.

Megyn Kelly is not just problematic in her defense of Trump and Epstein…she is emblematic of the decline in humanity infesting the Republican Party. The double standard for the definition of a child. The excuses…the rot at the center of the GOP.

Two books come to mind:

One is Stephen King's "Christine" as there's absolutely a part of Arnie Cunnigham in me. I still think of my School days as my private circle of hell.

And the other's Lucy Maud Montgomery's "Anne of Green Gables", Matthew truly is me in a lot of his character.

It is past time to draw negative inferences from the destruction of evidence.
An interesting tidbit in the joint status report filed in the Broadview ICE facility case today:

ICE says video from inside the facility "between October 19, 2025, and October 31, 2025, has been irretrievably destroyed" and can't be produced in discovery.

What the Epstein files show is the *solidarity* of many men-across class, race, religion, profession & party affiliation-in the global political project of keeping the boot on women's necks.

People have no problem understanding class solidarity among the rich. Why can't they see gender solidarity?
Like I dunno, maybe the reason it took a lady to break open the story of all the men protecting the dude trafficking underage girls is because the male journos were all emailing him making jokes about it?

Never been to a Stabucks and never will be, but you got my solidarity in spirit:
As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

Hey so “underage girls” are…children. The word you’re looking for is children. They’re not like, women-in-waiting or women-lite or whatever. They’re children. I think some of you are very uncomfortable with what that means for you but it is still true.

That's not easy.
I fear my library is whiter than an institution wall.

I did read James Baldwin's "The Fire Next Time" a couple years back.

What he wrote about his meeting with Elijah Muhammad, and about the Nation of Islam was what stayed most with me, from that.

What is his conduct with them?

I see a lot Christians tearing down and demonizing OF models and others, for no good reason beyond those Christians being morally upthight and that, dear Axios, is the real scandal.

Not following them.
James Talarico, a Texas Democrat running for U.S. Senate who has put his faith at the forefront of his campaign, follows several adult film performers, escorts and OnlyFans models on Instagram, according to an Axios review.

James Talarico has become a sensation in Texas politics by talking about how his Christianity is the basis for his progressive politics.

Annie on my Mind, by Nancy Garden.

I love how she captured the sweetness of first love in that story. It's one of the books that I like to reread every couple years.
Also, this cover is just a favourite, so beautiful:

I can’t over emphasize how Ross Douthat’s piece makes all women less safe. It incites more harassment and abuse of women in the workplace and beyond. It’s incredibly irresponsible and frankly dangerous.

And it was run by one of the most influential publications in the country.

I don’t know, mate. The only major difference between what the Nazis did and what every European imperial power did was that the Nazis did imperialism to Europeans, not only in the colonies.

The Nazis weren’t special by European standards.
