Your bills are up, your rents doubled, there’s shit in the rivers and the sea, your local community centre has closed down and the only shops left open are bookies and poundlands - but the government’s number one priority is assigning a genital inspector to every public toilet.

I was at a conference on Weds about use of AI in public services and noticed how AI as sticky tape over broken systems is becoming the norm, designing or implementing better systems is becoming more and more of a luxury.

Fixed it for you. Idiots! If the exclusion is based on appearance then it will certainly impact cis folks as well as trans folks.

This can’t be right, I’ve been told that I’m the problem, an irrevocable Luddite, an ignoramus, for not wanting (anyone) to use it
Not the biggest takeaway here but it’s clear that ChatGPT is basically eroding critical thinking skills for upper/middle management types
Suncoast Searchlight's four reporters told the board their editor-in-chief was inserting hallucinations into drafts. The next day, one of the reporters was fired.

I never knew the connection and now I’m reflecting on how I didn’t realise I had adhd until my late 30s, the point at which I stopped taking the pill and quit smoking 🤯
I am genuinely convinced that one of the reasons it used to be thought that most people grew out of ADHD as adults was how common smoking was.

In 2020 Keir Starmer and Alf Dubs urged the then Conservative Government to restore their commitment to family reunion for child refugees, saying there was a “moral argument” to protect desperately vulnerable young people.

Five years later Dubs condemns Starmer for doing the complete opposite

What the Labour Party used to understand was that it wasn’t that immigration was tearing the country apart, but that immigration was what was holding the country together. Immigration kept our NHS going, our transport system going, our education and much more.

It’s still true. They must know it.

If the next one learns from this, it's a good thing. It will hopefully remind politicians to serve the public good, and not pacify the minority who loudly misdiagnose problems to service their bigotry and/or personal gain
If a Prime Minister is brought down by being too cruel on asylum policy - which is not the most likely option but feels plausible right now, which is new - what does that do the debate? Is it too much to hope that draws some kind of line?

🌍 42.5m refugees
Over 70% of them are hosted by low- and middle-income countries.

🇬🇧 548k refugees
= 0.78% of the UK population.

It is not refugees who tear our country apart, it is the mainstreaming of far right policies. And that’s a risk to all of us.

The BBC is a deeply flawed organisation, but it didn’t “mislead viewers.” Nothing that anybody would’ve deduced about Trump after watching that broadcast was incorrect.
