I'll say more if I decide to stick around -- I'm at Parkland College tryin' to help folks who want to figure out basic math. I ride my bike a lot. I'm still here for now.

I want to reiterate, because it may have gotten lost in this thread, but ice is now wearing plain clothes, carrying whistles and blowing them at observers in an effort to intentionally confuse people on the ground. That alone is a major escalation and shift in tactics which should be noted.

This is happening. It is happening all across America.
DHS & ICE are securing facilities–from giant empty warehouses to no-longer-used correctional facilities–as they up their plans for concentration camps.

This is not a case of "Not in my backyard!"
This is a case of "NOT IN OUR COUNTRY!"

ICE plans to build mega warehouses for immigration detention spark growing concern
Sources at two government contractors told NBC News they were worried that new warehouses — and the large numbers of immigrants who would be housed in them — would present safety problems.

I really want people to think about this. After all the insane lawsuits, all the threats, all the bullshit weve seen from this admin and the targets who kneeled in fear, an average Joe called the president a Pedophile protector to his face and didn't get touched. That's the Power of a union.

ICE is currently holding around 80,000 detainees. Nazi Germany didn't reach this number in its formal camp system until 1942, nine years after seizing power and three years into the war.

If you widen that highway

you won’t reduce emissions

or congestion.

What you WILL do

is spend a lot of public money

to induce even more cars

emitting even more GHGs and pollution

in the same or worse congestion

with people still demanding that you widen the highway.

Period.

To be very clear, that lady in the NYT article is not making any money with her hundreds of AI slop books.

She makes money by *convincing people* she makes money that way and getting them to pay her to teach them how to do it.

It's an evolved MLM, and the NYT is helping market it.

Ok I am going to do a #TryMathsLive wit this from @catrionaagg.bsky.social. I will do it in short bursts, so know that my silence is not a request for help, it just means I’m doing something else for a while. (Indeed, in general, all questions are to myself and are also not a request for help.)
Two regular hexagons inside a rectangle. What fraction of the rectangle is shaded?

I found this #geometrypuzzle in my sketchbook - I drew it last June, but I’m pretty sure I never got round to posting it. Better late than never!
