Went to my primary-care doctor today for the first time in three [sic] years. Said years have resulted in a blood pressure reading that is basically OMG over WTF; a subsequent hasty EKG showed that everything was circulating just fine, so this is basically hyperstress crossed with genetics.

NYC safety fears:

- NJ drivers, especially turning left

- inexperienced/inattentive CitiBike riders (this is real, crashed into me)

- icy sidewalks

- pickpockets? sorta, not normally

- elevators making weird mechanical noises

The sob-story hustlers and chuggers are more quality of life.
Been thinking a bit about the right wing view of NYC as dangerous and realized I have my own totally irrational safety fears. 1) people doing pull ups on scaffolding. Stop doing that! I walk under scaffolding faster because i don’t trust it

As I get older, I feel like I want to explore new automotive dimensions. I had all kind of Hondas, BMWs, and 4x4s. I had a WRX and a W126. Maybe I should get stanced Infiniti? A big Benz? Maybe some big old American coupe that hasn’t rusted out yet? Something British seems delightfully tempting. 🤷‍♂️

RIP Graham Greene. Every time he popped up on screen when I was a kid, my mom would excitedly point him out for being an actual Native on the screen. Able to be deadly serious and infinitely hilarious (even in smaller roles like Last of Us), he ate up the screen. Nʌki’wah brother.

Just turned 52. Starting my thirteenth year teaching and the seventh managing the sub-calculus part of the department, which is orders of magnitude longer than I’ve been anywhere else.

And thus year is sizing up to be a contender for most insane of all.
I am 53 years old and I am starting my 26th year as a professor at Princeton, which means I’ve now spent almost half my life here.

It's funny how the educational attainment of 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation migrant children isn't due to the hard work, resilience and assimilation the right wing beg of our communities. Instead, it's due to the idea we have somehow stolen our grades from the 'white working class'
