WH sources say Venezuela's opposition leader committed the "ultimate sin": She accepted the Nobel Peace prize.

“If she had turned it down and said, ‘I can’t accept it because it’s Donald Trump’s,’ she’d be the president of Venezuela today,” one said.

I posted earlier that Trump would try to grab Greenland and claim it's for "security reasons."

Hitler did the same with the Netherlands.

Just follow the playbook.
Trump: "We need Greenland from a national security situation. It's so strategic. Right now, Greenland is covered with Russian and Chinese ships all over the place. We need Greenland from the standpoint of national security. And Denmark is not gonna be able to do it ... the EU needs us to have it"

Q: Rodriguez called it a 'kidnapping' of Maduro

TRUMP: That's alright. That's not a bad term.

After 9/11, the US invoked Article 5 of the NATO treaty and every NATO member helped to combat terrorism.

Some of our closest allies, like Denmark, went even further, voluntarily sending troops to Afghanistan and Iraq in support of US-led wars there.

Today, Trump is threatening to attack Denmark.

Story time regarding front-temporal dementia:

When my father's disease was worsening but he was still functional, I would take him to see his specialist, who had an office 1 1/2 hours away by car. Dad would drive to my office (10 minutes for him), and I would take over driving from there.

Sunday reading:

America is no longer a democracy. That doesn’t mean authoritarianism has won. There is reason to feel more optimistic now than last spring.

But the country needs a democratic transformation rather than merely a restoration of the pre-Trump status quo.

This week’s piece:
Where Are You Going, America?
America is no longer a democracy. Authoritarianism has not won. But merely restoring the pre-Trump status quo won’t work. The country needs a democratic transformation.

America has a felon in The Oval Office. He led a coup attempt on our nation’s Capitol on January 6, 2021. He could have stopped it but he didn't. Our White House was desecrated. People died. He pardoned the terrorists.

"If this is what Bari and Tony’s CBS Evening News is going to look like, then the we may as well just call ourselves Trump Administration State TV. Pathetic."

Quick update for US media: the story is not about Maduro or what’s going on in Venezuela. It’s about the massive rupture in US history where the country now stands for invading and occupying any country it likes.

Trump in his press conference made it very clear this is a new age. Did you miss that?
