I was up close to the West cars back in the day, and all I can say is that were ten times as gorgeous in person. They just didn't impress me on TV.

Maybe the Cadillac livery is like that, but so far, meh for me.

Yes, perfect as it is.

Right? I would give them #10, but I just can't with that HP garbage on there.

It's inexplicable from the point of view that they are a business and they should want to attract fans and sponsors.

It started with the IRL and a cost fixation that made those machines death buckets as well as ugly cars, and somehow the lousy aesthetics carried forward.

I would be fine with that: Yankees/Yanks as a term for us.

Southerners will not be too happy about it, but as you would imagine that doesn't cause me much worry.

Then the blood spills. This would be a declaration of war.

Awkward word to write and pronounce.

We should also recognize that we aren't identical robots with a few defective individuals, we are complex organic beings, and we should build a society that attempts to elevate each individual while respecting differences.

Should that really be so difficult?

"All men are created equal" has carried so much water for the right for all these years.

Firstly, they also said "We the people" so "men" was a choice.

Secondly, slavery, obviously.

Thirdly, we aren't. We should be equal UNDER THE LAW.

I would reject a Spanish or Portuguese name, too. We can't change history. We can only do better moving forward.

This has been requested by multiple indigenous groups in the past.

Wait, I thought Americans were uniquely horrible.

At least that is what I have been told lately.
February 10, 2026 at 5:48 PM
Right, but we don't call Europe "the Deutchlands."

Perhaps the answer is that the Americas should be called something that honors the original people, not European colonialism.

North, Central, and South Ixachitlan, for example. Other ideas have been suggested by indigenous groups.

If there's one thing you can say about social media, it's that it has allowed people who are bad at thinking to more easily locate other people who are also bad at thinking and gather into poorly-thinking groups where they think poorly together in a self-reinforcing manner.

Decent mushrooms would be nice. Even fresh button mushrooms are sort of blah, and they aren't particularly good for you, either. Other varieties are much better tasting and more healthy.

I am all for calling anyone from the Americas "American."

The problem is what you call people from the U.S. after that.

All jokes aside, what would you suggest?

As a child I was in Washington D.C. for the bicentennial. My parents thought it would be good for us to learn of the founding and so on. We also stayed in Williamsburg, and to some extent this sparked my interest in history.

200 was a joyful celebration.

250 will be nothing but more looting.
