Hi! I've noticed an influx of new followers, so thought I'd make a quick intro. I'm Bri! Minnesota born, I now live in the PNW.
My passion is sustainable landscaping. Bringing permaculture to your outdoor living space. Whether that's a couple pots on your deck, a suburban yard, or a couple acres.

the symbolism of “Trump destroying the White House for a overpriced luxury vanity project, during a government shut down, days after a historically-large mass demonstration against his regime called “No Kings”’ would be rightly viewed as laying it on a little thick if it was in a work of fiction

Hey all! This April, Frankie and I are walking 30 miles to raise money for the American Red Cross.
If you have a few bucks to spare, feel free to throw them at my Go Fund Me page:

Went on vacation for a week and came back to all my tulips in full bloom!
Had to share because I love how they seem to glow in the morning light.

I know there's a whole lot of crappy news and people struggling.
I'd like to throw some positive news in the timeline: today I walked the most steps since I broke my ankle back in December! Also managed to jump over a small creek!

Today, at work, we had a biotech industry consultant in and a town hall so people could ask him questions. One of the questions someone had asked was what his advice would be for someone coming into the industry right now. I joked to a coworker it should be, "don't."

Then he said essentially that.

My game changer was finding out voicemails count the same as calls. I call after hours and leave messages and don't have to deal with talking to people. Calling is *by far* the most effect way to contact our electeds, shaming people rather than helping them find a way to do that is just bullshit.

I have had a day that has included a migraine and my first long walk since I broke my ankle. Everything hurts.
However, seeing Alexander Skarsgård as Murderbot has definitely improved my mood.
Turns out the universe was listening; today we got a release date AND the first stills of Skarsgård in the suit I worked on 🙏

Remember: ignore and block. Do not engage.
Maddow plugging Bluesky is, on a metric level, good for the platform, but it also means it is clearly filling up with people who have never used this kind of app before. They're used to Meta platforms, which is why they reply angrily to everything they see and add nothing. Human spam essentially.
Maddow: If you don't have Bluesky yet, I recommend it. It is a social media network that doesn't make me want to stab myself in the eye with a rusty fork

"Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results." - Rita Mae Brown

Tangentially, this quote is often improperly attributed to Albert Einstein.
No one has tried this before, let's see how it plays out.

This whole thread is great but this part especially makes me feel validated. Is Tommy Tuberville going to abruptly change his mind on anything? UNLIKELY.

I've been calling out of spite, because he shouldn't get to just be like this with no pushback. I'd LOVE to think he's feeling it!

Part 3, in which AOC explains that the calls we have been making to members of Congress this week are having an impact on Republicans and Democrats alike.

Don’t let up.

Keep making noise.

These are the people who monitor and publish Lake Superior's conditions every day. Minnesotans along the North Shore rely on NOAA to know whether or not it’s safe to go out on the water.

These agencies and their staff do real work that keeps us safe, it just goes unnoticed - until they’re gone.

Bird feed, please be extra conscious to use alt text with owl photos this Sunday to respect indigenous folks on this platform! 🪶
Remember as the big day for posting owl pictures comes up, if you don't have the world "owl" in the text of your post, be sure to put it in the alt-text of your image, so that Indigenous folks who mute the keyword can choose not to see it.

Everyone is dunking on this but I think it’s good to celebrate the document that was drafted to oppose an out of touch king and revolution in the face of a government denying people their rights. Maybe want to emphasize that document and its power.

Found out that TWENTY emails is considered a lot to politicians on an issue.

TWENTY.

As in, they call that getting slammed.

So next time you see a request to email your rep, or call, keep that in mind.

TWENTY is a lot.
