These are some of my favorite projects so far. Have you played any?

hey i'm the new editor for The Games Press!! excellent show by People Make Games about video game journalism, a topic dear to me. this episode has maddy meyers and zoe hannah on the launch of Mothership, great talk with chris on the current moment in independent journalism. check it out!!!!
Extremely pleased to bring The Games Press back today with Mothership's @midimyers.com & @zoehhannah.com!

We talk about the current state of feminist writing in the games media, whether "subscription fatigue" is real & how they've processed what happened to them & their former coworkers at Polygon.

This! Finishing games takes different skills than starting games. It requires prioritization and making hard choices.

It teaches you to let go.
Ive been talking about this a lot over the last couple of years, specifically with respect to public funding for games.

Finishing games is how people make better games. Length doesnt matter. Our entire industry encourages people however to get trapped making enormous endless work they never finish
Also, @mammonmachine.bsky.social has a great write up on making a short story/novella length VN in a "short" period that I like to send to beginner game writers/narrative designers.

Same here! It doesn't help that both company's slogans are about smoothness, at least in my country.

I've only read the Hitchhiker books, I should check the radio series. 🤔

Exactly. The plot and dialogue are only part of the fun of Discworld. So much of the juice is in the descriptions and footnotes.
In a book it's delightful. As a movie it would be relentless chatter that often goes on tangents and leaves no time to unwrap the clever wordplay.

If you'd like to discover more interesting Japanese vocals, check out the movie Paprika!
Here's a bit of the intro that is so perfectly directed that it never fails to give me goosebumps.

I like it a lot.
In fact, I'd recommend everything Satoshi Kon worked on. I wish there was more.

So heartwarming! That game is very special to me.

Sorry for the late reply! Hectic couple of days.

Starting from a PS1 style prototype sounds amazing. I’d love to try something like that.

With that approach I can see how the game itself would be the "design documentation" in the sense that the systems are already there and working as intended.

That art direction looks so good! A lot more faithful to the original manga than the previous adaptations. I wonder if the tone will be as goofy.
First teaser for "The Ghost In The Shell" anime series by Science Saru studio.
Directed by Mokochan (+ Shuhei Handa on character designs & animation).
Coming in July.

You can recommend them to get a Pairs deck and play Port, which is mostly the same game.

For me my notes and game design documentation are very closely connected.

My notes include all the ideas, research, brainstorms, sketches, hypotheses and feedback. My game design documents and rulebooks distill them into only the ones that made it through.

I believe what you’re describing can work for the right team and project, but I don’t think it scales.
