Great: Whitney engages in multiple different hugging behaviors (sometimes tail, sometimes paws)

Not great: why hug sharp?

Making my way downtown, walking fast, red-head passed and I’m Conan-bound
I once passed by an extremely tall redheaded guy while walking down the street in Georgetown. Immediately after, I got on a bus going the other direction to confirm what I thought my eyes just saw: It was Conan O’Brien.
Ok Bluesky, what are your most low key celebrity interactions? I once shared a lift with Tim Finn and put drinks in Bryan Brown and Rachel Ward’s fridge. My husband sold cheese to John Cleese and my mum delivered groceries to Gough Whitlam. Go!!

It is very very easy for people to think things are easier than they are when they haven’t been doing it.
Today someone gave me shit for only writing three and a half pages while working remotely and putting my dog down.

I’m sure this dude is fine. He does have a Nazi tattoo. And says women whine about sexual assault in the military. And that black people are stupid. But gosh darn it he says he’s a progressive, and since he’s white and male, who can really say what’s in a person’s heart.
Platner's dismissive comments about sexual assault in the military were so disgusting that a candidate who had experienced assault in the service dropped out to endorse Mills rather than risk Platner getting into the senate. www.everythingishorrible.net/p/progressiv...

They’ve been with us for 14-15 years. There were four of them, two cats and two dogs.
The dogs are gone and the cats won’t last more than a couple months. One has days at best.

My mom: “your kitten was mean to me”
Me: “what happened”
Mom: “I chased her into a corner and she hissed at me”
Me: “…”
Mom: “okay I hear it now”

What I haven’t mentioned on the skyline is that my brother and I had the same reaction upon entering the house.

Out of the three family pets, Maddie looked most herself.
The other two have weeks, not months. Maybe even just days.

On the flip side, Democrats have vanishingly few opportunities to exercise agency, they found one, and they’re using it.
Certain DHS branches are manifestly unpopular. It is bad to erase the Democrats name from the event of having potentially found a spine.
Can someone remind me who is the majority party? WaPo seems to need help here.

I thought it was the GOP, who despite what the WaPo wants you to think, actually have some agency. Lots, really, tho you’d never get that idea from the media.
Note the framing here:

It’s “Democrats have refused to fund” DHS and not “Republicans refused to prohibit face masks” or “the two parties could not agree on how to reform the agency.”

May you and your brother forage the Elysian Fields in joyful reunion.
Maddie the mini-golden passed on at 3:24PM, surrounded by all four of her people.
I hope she’s with her brother now.

Was just thinking about tomorrow - the day we have to let Maddie go after 14 years of joy at her big dumb smile and how she tap dances with excitement as we’d serve up her dinner.

Hey, thanks to the moots who’ll joyfully engage with me. It’s been nice. I needed it tonight. Anything to keep my mind of the bad thing.

I’ve been listening on repeat to a lot of antebellum chapters of a detailed history book recently.

It echoes.
A MAGA freak in Texas murdered his own daughter in cold blood after they had an argument about Trump.

A grand jury in the Dallas area then *declined to indict him*, and he has not yet faced charges.

Seems like many Texans believe a man has the right to kill his own child for disobedience.

Lucy: How would you feel if I was the girl in that situation and I'd been sexually assaulted?

Lucy’s Dad: I have two other daughters who live with me so it wouldn’t upset me that much.

Later that day, Lucy’s dad murdered Lucy.

Then a grand jury let him walk.

Fuck Lucy’s dad.

Everyone say hi Maddie
She is the sweetest most anxious thing ever. And she’d do a little tap dance whenever she was excited. Shed clumsily sneak to get the cat food when she thought no one was looking in the best parody of a heist ever. She’s gods perfect idiot.

My dog of 14 years, Maddie, still is alive today. But whatever is left of her, is leaving us in a couple days.
It fucking hurts.
I’m unsure of how successful I’ve been at choking down tears at my desk today.

Age verification?

(Not trying to dunk)

They’ve been working hard to do this for a while. And by “they” I mean holy shit fucking anyone with any power?

Everyone thinks removing it is a magic bullet to take down their enemies.
It’s not a bullet, it’s a bomb
They're trying to take away Section 230????So like everything about the worldwideweb.

When I say they are working hard to isolate us, and destroy our ability to organize, congregate, and pass along information I mean it.

There are several problems with surrendering any investigation of armed agents.

Eventually one turns their sights on you and you don’t notice. That’s just one
You should read this. It is the type of detail that experts in authoritarian regimes see as telling.
In this case, state agents are offered impunity from higher ups, and the legal system is rendered inoperative as a mode of accountability.
