An accidental memory in the case of death

1. I never want to hear about “we’re protecting the kids” again from people like Riley Gaines.

Maybe it "doesn't feel like Christmas anymore" because for the past 25 years culture warrior crybabies have been sucking all the fun out of it. Getting mad at Sbux cups and people for saying "happy holidays". And celebrating the holiday as statement rather than having good will towards man.

The death toll at Srebrenica was about 8,400. At Katyn, about 22,000. At Babi Yar, about 34,000.

Add those together and you've just barely cracked the low-end estimate of the death toll at El Fasher.
So, El Fasher looks like one of the worst single event atrocities to happen this century so far, but the evidence has come in such a trickle it seems to only now be getting verified
At least 60,000 murdered in Sudanese city, which resembles ‘a slaughterhouse’

1. For at least 10 years, Pepsi has conspired with Walmart to force up grocery prices. That’s the shocking evidence made public today in an unsealed FTC lawsuit. The suit was abandoned in May by the Trump FTC just before it was to be un-redacted. We went to court to get it unsealed & won.

Chavarria, a U.S. citizen, was held at the airport "for more than four hours and released only after he finally agreed to let the agents search his smartphone, tablet, and laptop computer. The agents...informed him that he had no Fourth Amendment right to resist." @pacificlegal.bsky.social is suing.
CBP agents held this U.S. citizen for hours until he agreed to let them search his electronic devices
A federal lawsuit argues that perusing travelers' personal data without a warrant or probable cause violates the Fourth Amendment.

"The jury verdict from 10 years ago contains a scrivener's error insofar as it states that the defendant was not guilty. We are changing that, nunc pro tunc, to guilty."

Yeah, no.
It is not! A “scrivener’s error” is for things like fixing typos or very minor non-material errors, not retroactively adding a deportation order that doesn’t current exist!
Is "correcting" a previous order like this a real thing?

Apparently I completely missed that most of them had been released in a prisoner exchange in July. But at least 29 others remain, if I'm reading this right:

I am so glad to see Kilmar Abrego Garcia go home.

And I want to remind you that everyone else that was sent to the El Salvador torture prison is STILL THERE BEING TORTURED RIGHT NOW.

It may begin to feel wise to assume that if something sounds this ridiculous then, perhaps, no one has actually ever proposed it as anything other than a thought experiment. Then look up what the proposals actually were.

Importantly, this wouldn't have passed without Dem support. There was enough of a split within Republican ranks that if Dems had voted against the bill it would've been doa. Giving Trump a blank check to warmonger *and* passing an anti-trans measure was a choice.

SCOOP — Gregg Phillips, a conspiracy theorist with no emergency management experience who helped produce the election-denying documentary ‘2000 Mules’ with Dinesh D’Souza and has faced numerous legal inquiries, has been named head of FEMA’s Office of Response and Recovery.

My story:
Conspiracy theorist election denier given FEMA’s second-most important role
Gregg Phillips will lead the Office of Response and Recovery, “the heart of what FEMA does.”

Something I have to reiterate is that you are being straight up lied to about trans people and our healthcare on an unfathomable scale, this instance reporting is already being torn to shreds by other people commenting, but the frequency of this kind of reporting is astonishing, it's neverending.
You might think from the headline that this is a story about a trans kid suffering medical consequences from a large drug dose but nope! It is just an interview with an estranged father who is angry that his child happily transitioned.
