I have appreciated Amanda’s efforts here so I’m disappointed she’s wrapping things up by spreading misinformation. I can assure you as someone whose neighborhood has been crawling with ICE in recent days that we are not in the “aftermath” of anything.
Actually, one more thing. The story isn’t over. But it’s mostly aftermath stories now. It’s not going to be people who are there to cover as it happens. It’s going to be quieter work that you’ll see in print in 9 months.

As uncomfortable as it is, I’m of the same mind as Tom Brady: I don’t have a dog in this fight. The ads will probably be about Ai or will have been made with Ai so miss me with those. Bad Bunny should put on a good show though.

This is bleak: Jes Staley, currently CEO of Barclays, reassuring Epstein that popular revolt against financial elites is unlikely because capitalism and pop culture have defanged social movements, leaving people more invested in consumption than justice.

“Look for the punks. You will always find punks who are helping.”
In the greater story of Minneapolis’ resistance to ICE, one chapter absolutely belongs to the punks organizing at every level. They’re observing, fundraising, running supplies, opening their spaces, coordinating, etc.

A story for @rollingstone.com. Thanks to everyone who spoke on the record.

The answer to "it's hard to make art when you're poor" is "stop letting people hoard resources while other people starve" not "use plagiarism machines created and owned by the wealthy to churn out dogshit."
no great artists have ever struggled, a famous thing about artists that we all know. everyone prior to three years ago lived lives of luxury.

When you see a media landscape that treats American concentration camps as no big deal, that’s not a bottom-up “Americans don’t care about this” that’s a top-down “Elites under Trump don’t want to talk about this.”

I want people to understand this.

For many of them, democracy ended when Obama was elected twice and Black Lives Matter rose to prominence.

This is them “fixing” a system that felt broken and newly unsafe to them.
What we all seemingly failed to understand is just how many of our "countrymen" were perfectly willing to resort to treason to end democracy. And all in service of a convicted felon and lifelong conman who wasn't even very good at it.

Depicting black people as apes is racism that goes all the way back to slavery. It’s not “racially charged” or “controversial.” It’s pure racist id.
