every single week they're throwing this guy a special oval office love-in that appears to be the presidential equivalent of letting your dog scarf an entire big mac and fries before that last trip to the vet
Pirro: "Mr President, there is in this room a group of people who love you, who believe in you, and who are so proud to be in this Oval Office and to be part of this amazing day because you have changed the course of America."

Also many of the so called NO votes were not no votes. They supported the move to reopen and are glad to have those who supported cloture do so. Now they can make their little posts on social media and credulous voters will postback: 'thanks to my Senator for standing up.' Pure WWF.
It's just that they already voted to move this forward in the only vote that mattered. Today's vote only needs 50 so the Dems can now vote no and pretend that they didn't advance it when they already did.

One of the helpful tips I heard was 'get healthy. fast.'
Way ahead of you, Brad. I've only been actively trying to diagnose a chronic condition for the last six years with fuck all to show for it. I'm sure that will be very helpful to me when my premiums triple under the strain of a downed economy.

if you were wondering how to prepare for a recession, the advice on the internet is “have a lot of liquid savings” and “don’t lose your job” 👍 very helpful, who could have predicted “having money saved” and “having income” would help a situation

It's not their fault. Democrats don't have some magic lever they can pull. They couldn't and can't actually do anything about this situation. Nonetheless, it's very important you keep voting for them so they can do something about this situation.

Truly amazing that any time the democrats have to bite the bullet and do something that ruins countless lives, there's always *just* enough votes to get it done, but if there is a vote on something that would actually improve people's lives, they are always one vote short. Crazy how that happens.

If you’ve historically been a “vote blue no matter who” type, it’d be cool if you could use this moment to understand why vilifying leftists who actually do think it matters is basically a psyop you accidentally fell for. This is why people warn you about guys like Newsom.

they’re going to keep doing this as long as you keep voting for them
How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

In the Frey research for my presentation to @swaempls.bsky.social, this is the thing that stands out to me as very indicative of his motivations. Less than 2 years after he moved to MN, he ran for State Senate, lost this embarrassingly, and ran for City Council in the next election cycle.

it is very worth noting that jacob frey has never won a DFL primary. this is the one time he tried. it was a good call to shift to the primaryless world of municipal politics.

genuinely when you're online arguing that the graphs say the economy is good actually, what do you expect people to say? what is the end result you're hoping for? for everyone to stop complaining about their personal starvation, evictions and medical debt because a line is going up somewhere?

assuming voters have a fixed right-left ideology point and all politics revolves around making coalitions that collect voters from parts of that spectrum is an extremely limited way to look at things, and looking at actual ranked choice results would disabuse most from going down that path
