Sort of interesting…
Ozone is in the upper atmosphere in northern latitudes, and causes nausea and headaches (it’s not dangerous)

Newer planes made for those flights have ozone filters

But when ozone is in unusual areas, planes don’t have filters, and the only fix is to fly low and burn extra fuel

Wait so…air travel problems force our leaders to act?

HEY SOMEONE SHOULD BUILD A BOYCOTT AROUND THAT
Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

I think it would be a small sacrifice if everyone in the country would stay off of flights this holiday season and either stay home or drive to where you are going, if you can. Let's not hand them a lucrative end to their business cycle after this.

I know my family is an outlier, but I have never once in my 45+ years living in the US flown anywhere for thanksgiving. We couldn’t afford to fly to be with family when I was growing up, most of our family was in other countries and we could rarely afford to see them at all. Lots of people can’t.
It really does seem like there's a decent chance that these senators screwed us because they don't want their personal Thanksgiving plans to be disrupted.

I think that's utterly consistent with what we see from white middle class professionals in general? Like, a reactionary cis woman getting death threats for her shitty politics can make international news. Meanwhile, for trans women with public facing profiles, that's Tuesday and we get crickets.

This shit fills me with so much contempt. I've had to work on Thanksgiving and Christmas before as a bartender, and you're telling me some fucking senators couldn't suck it up and do that once in order to slow the rise of fascism. Cowards. Pathetic. I hate them so much

I'm not wealthy, but I have enough that there's food on the table. Enough that I can handle an emergency.

Even before the GOP burned down SNAP, I went over budget donating to folks who needed assistance. After it's basically been hemorrhaging savings. My neighbors shouldn't have to choose.

But what the DNC did, what it always does, is cave to special interests. They sit fat and happy while we look at our starving neighbors and decide which of us will be starving next to help each other. They burn down every well meaning person, until we're all beggars.

My community is more important to me than my savings, but at some point I'll have to choose between my daughter's health and my neighbor's. When I can't even help that, when it's just another tax break for billionaires and false promises of healthcare, my answer will not be acquiesce into death.

I'm just mad it was all for nothing. I had a plan to get through this. It was gonna suck but I thought it was being done for a good reason. We're poor and we were willing to sacrifice for other people to continue to have access to healthcare. Wtf is the senate's excuse?

My partner is a federal employee. He's been working for over a month without pay. It's been a struggle, but I've supported the Dems in this shutdown because I knew how bad losing ACA subsidies would hurt people.
Now we've been suffering... for nothing. We're in a hole & people still lose healthcare

We spent weeks listening to brutality from those who thought not having food was the fault of the poor. We pooled resources to keep fed. We cried, screamed and had sleepless nights bc we knew our pain was a sacrifice that was worthy if it meant others wouldn’t suffer too.

And now for what?

I work in a not-aviation part of the transportation sector and the most infuriating thing to me is that, as usual, politicians know NOTHING about how transportation works, either in principle or even in practice, since even with the gov't reopened, THERE IS NO HORIZON FOR RESTORING FLIGHT CAPACITY.

Wasn't it Chris Coons or someone a few years ago, who said the reason he and Dems were going to cave (on something. I don't remember what. Maybe the previous shutdown under Trump) was that they wanted to go home for the weekend or something like that

ERISA won't save you. The ACA market entering a death spiral will cause massive failures in the health care delivery system. Even more hospitals will close. Rural clinics will go under. Entire practices will be sold to venture capital.
