I'm not sure if others have noticed this, but interesting that one of the Prescott criticisms of the BBC is based on those of the 'History Reclaimed' group, which is also associated with the 'Restore Trust' group's attacks on & so far unsuccessful attempts to take control of the National Trust. 1/3

Barely mentioned but that now notorious Trump Panorama *wasn’t made by the BBC*

It was an indie production (as so much is)

Even if was BBC, head of news or DG would wouldn’t have been involved in edits

It's like the crocodile story Ken Clarke once told me. You can feed buns to the crocodiles until the cows come home.
Once you run out of buns, they'll eat you anyway.
They'll never stop.
Two heads rolling won’t stop rot at the BBC

It seems to lil'ol naïve me that the vote winning political stance to take in Trump Vs The Beeb is: holding a club and spattered with Trump's blood

Hello @support.bsky.team

I heard from Sarah Kendzior @sarahkendzior.bsky.social that her account was suspended.

Can you please look into this and reinstate her account? She’s a published author and scholar on authoritarianism. Her presence here is valuable.

To celebrate the 10 year anniversary of launching the ONS website in 2026 (the highlight of my career) I'm going to have one last swing at a Gov big data initiative (but not 'Big Data!') and will return to the Civil Service as Head of Products & Services for the National Data Library in January!

The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.

New piece from me.

The other fact that people are ignoring is that Prescott is not some random chap plucked out of obscurity to do an 'independent' report. He's part of the campaign from the start.
The fact that the BBC has made serious culpable errors does not negate the point that there is a real and concerted right-wing media campaign to destroy it. Both points can be true at the same time and the campaign would not end even if the errors did.

At £5.9bn a year, it's clear the BBC is woefully underfunded given what we expect it do to. E.g. the main three streaming platforms (Netflix, Amazon and Apple) seem to spend about $45bn a year on content production, none of it at all important to democracy. It's time for a £10bn BBC.

@richardpope.org does a great job of showing that it's often senior leadership misunderstandings and desire for "big bang comms" that damage good work already in progress (this time on digital ID).

Just as a matter of complete pedantry on this “internal BBC dossier” story the telegraph have been going insane about for 3 days, the bloke who wrote it was an independent external advisor so how can it be an internal dossier?

The same scam that was used to attack US universities is now being used to attack the BBC - its a nonsense
