The first and last lines of Joni Ernst’s legacy as a human on earth will be that she was instrumental in the confirmation of the Sec of Defense most hostile to women serving in military, and she knew that when she voted for him.

Whitlam’s legacy is one of possibility and hope. He showed us what a brave, grown up Australia could look like.

It is very interesting to observe how the gross behavior of Kerr, Charles, Fraser has been whitewashed by history. While it’s true Whitlam was playing politics, he knew what was happening, but is pilloried for it while the true criminals - yes, criminals - have been forgiven.

The Whitlam government achieved more in one term, cut short by a coup, than the Albanese government has achieved in what is likely to be three terms, and has no interest in ever achieving.

All the Whitlam posts I'm seeing really emphasise that the Albanese Labor Party isn't a case of so much dwarves standing on the shoulders of giants, as gnomes nicking the giants' silverware to appease bitter hobgoblins.

This is bollocks ABC. There was a CIA/UK coup. Whitlam was the best PM in the colonial government.

As the opinion polls had shown before the sacking the voters, who had enthusiastically embraced the "It's Time" Whitlam slogan and promise in 1972, had lost faith in Labor three years on.'
