I say this often but it bears repeating: if you make your money from creating art then you NEED to find an art or craft where you just do it for fun and don't try to be perfect or make any money from it, and when anyone tells you to monetise it you say 'No', because otherwise your soul will die.

Got my parents the Chumbawamba rebel songs album for Christmas and they were like “……the tubthumping band?” and I was like “trust me, I think you’ll like it” and they did not look convinced *at all*. Anyway mum messaged me last night saying “lovely harmonies, very folky, such a surprise!”

2025 hasn’t been *terrible* for us, compared to other recent years. We stopped smoking, got kittens, and only went to one friend’s funeral. Most of the relatives I lost were in their 90s. It could have been worse. Fuck me the bar is low. Anyway, I hope 2026 is kinder to you than 2025 has been.

I can’t remember the last time I used a stapler, so this is just giving me a mental image of the poor thing forlornly following me around occasionally hopefully saying “you staple now?”.
Also, this just in -> the latest bizarre AI fever dream is AI-controlled trivets, staplers, and coffee cups on wheels. So we'll be chased around by inanimate wheeled objects clamoring for our attention.
