Anyone who deals in that kind of crap these days should have to piece some projects brought to them by quilters or sew some clothes.
the people who spread the “female brains are bad at math and spatial reasoning” lies should be tried at the Hague
Another fun wrinkle from that period (that might still exist): I was good at math and loved it and then my geometry teacher told me that I'd probably struggle because female brains were bad at spatial thinking. I kept loving math & being good at it but assumed that would end so I ended it first.

-Bomb that.
-Why?
-I dunno, algorithm says so.
-OK.

Yes, that’s a more realistic concern with military AI than autonomous drone swarms going out of control, let alone a Terminator or Matrix-style war with the machines.

Indeed, we already saw some unexamined AI target selection happen in Gaza.
autonomous weapons are the Hollywood version of AI run amok, but Lavender is actually far more what the genuine issue looks like. If you are indifferent to the actual *quality* of a generated target, you can have a machine that will generate far more premade target packages than a human staff could

Yes so much this.
Great piece from @dsquareddigest.bsky.social, which touches on one of the big theories for why English-speaking countries do especially badly at housebuilding:

Adversarial and litigious common law systems (Anglo) vs judge-led civil law systems elsewhere.

Vaccines are truly one of the most incredible things in all of human history. We founds ways to literally defeat communicable deadly diseases at almost no cost and at no harm to ourselves.

And someone who had literal brain worms is working to undermine that and get people killed.

Archaeologists study how people lived in the past by digging into the ground and examining the artifacts they left behind. A team of researchers has now applied that same logic to the International Space Station. The results offer a revealing look at how humans adapt to life beyond Earth.

There are certain tactics which are universally condemned because they do ultimate and lasting harms.

You don't do foreign ops by claiming you're medical personnel...or you can't do medicine because of generational suspicion.

When they claim to need help or are in distress to do harm? Same shit.
CCTV footage appears to show DHS agents posing as people having car trouble in order to lure a target out of his house before arresting them. The target comes out and starts helping them before 3 vehicles surround the scene. The car "experiencing" trouble then drives off with them.

This whole thread! Such a change from the idea America is *not* Europe.

Although…
interesting to think that revolutionary era americans understood themselves as making a break with the “old world” and establishing a new civilization. and crucially, this new civilization rested on republican self-government, not “sovereignty.”
The Rubio speech really is appalling, and if you haven’t read it yet, you should.
