Energy transitions can happen faster than we think:

In 2000 almost 90% of Denmark's electricity was from fossil fuels.

In 2024 less than 10% of Danish electricity was from fossil fuels.

This is why we have unions in Australia.

Make sure the job is done safely and everyone is paid fairly. We've been saying it since before the 1891 Shearer's Strike here in Queensland.

Strikers imprisoned & released in 1893. Qld Parliament in background. #qldpol

Take note Aus Labor
Authoritarianism can only succeed when democracy fails to deliver for working people.

Authoritarian parties can only succeed when the pro-democracy parties fail to fight for working people.

We need a new democracy and a new party system which can represent working people.

China does not need to go to a physical war. It is already winning by simply being better than the rest. And it’s not hard - the West sets a very low bar. It seems there’s nothing the West does better (USA,UK, Aus + more). Not even its judicial processes (now political) or human rights.

Apart from leaking to the SMH and the Age like a rusty colander, this would have to be the most tiresome little man in the Australian public service

Hyperbolic, publicity mad, sinophobic, constantly beating his own drum when absolutely nobody has asked - don't ever get between him and a headline

In case you're finding it hard to keep up, this court hearing was related to the allegation Lehrmann stole French submarine secrets in the days before his dismissal back in 2019

It's not about his current rape charges in QLD, or his car theft charges in Tas, or his 'defamation' appeal or . . . .

The NACC was one of Albanese's biggest election promises and it's been a complete and utter failure from start to finish.

How can there be no political consequences for the government? Why is the media letting them get away with it?

One of the most damaging and enduring aspects of the Dismissal, fifty years ago today, was its poisoning of the electorate against the Whitlam government, ensuring that it would lose the subsequent election and creating fear of progressive government.

A windfall tax on their profits is fair, proportionate, and just make sense.

Albanese promised smaller classes for public schools. Where are they?
By Chris Breen Public education is in an unacknowledged crisis. Public schools educated 77% of all students in 1966, it is now just 56% in NSW and falling. Two thirds of the growth in student [...]

Is this the million who said they’d leave? Wahoo NYC! How amazing this is and the huge amount of housing this will release for all the kind and caring people! The corrupt who bought jobs that can now be filled by qualified diversified people, gone. Yes, be gone and hurry up!
So the one to 25,000 bad apples in the NYPD are "self-deporting?" What a great way to weed out the most prejudiced assholes. Congratulations, New York City!

The lesson of history is that tyrants cannot be appeased.

Appeasement only feeds their insatiable hunger for power.

Tyrants prey on people who feel unsafe and vulnerable.

But without mass submission, a tyrant is powerless.

Remember this.

Mamdani is not a radical. He has run a tight, smart, fairly standard local campaign. He'll probably get 20 or 30 percent of his platform if he's lucky. The one radical thing he's done is told the Times to go to hell. He has campaigned every step of the way like he doesn't need them, and he's right.
