The billionaire class wants to decimate the white collar workforce. Because white collar workers are expensive. And because white collar workers—who historically sided with billionaires—are questioning that alliance. Which makes their knowledge and resources a huge threat to billionaire power.

How the fuck is it not absolutely obvious that the climate crisis will absolutely fuck the economy.

Also, the economy that doesn’t serve it’s society (like ours, as far as I can tell), is completely worthless. FFS 🤦‍♂️
William Nordhaus received the Nobel Memorial Prize for these flawed economic models, and Bjorn Lomborg built a highly lucrative career on them.
They told rich and powerful people what they wanted to hear.
While helping to consign us all to catastrophe.

worth noting that the second rich people stopped being afraid of mobs tearing them limb from limb, they stopped building libraries and opera houses and stuff and started ripping the copper wiring out of the walls of society instead

so crazy to me that a woman asked trump if he has any words for epstein's victims and he said "you as a young woman should smile more." it will go nowhere bc republicans refuse to hold trump accountable, but it's still pretty crazy.

I know you've heard that a federal judge ordered the release of 5 year old Liam Conejo Arias and his father, and that they're now home.

But did you look at the judge's order?

It's less than 2.5 pages and well worth a minute. "Jesus wept."

Warm air masses in the atmosphere rise upward, causing cooler air from neighboring areas, sometimes from the arctic, to rush in. This is how atmospheric heat powers storms. In other words, global warming causes colder, more intense winter storms. www.scientificamerican.com/article/exxo...

For Global North consumers, it's time to treat fish like meat and instead choose plant-based foods, with their much lower environmental and climate cost, and no deliberate killing (kelp for instance, see www.bbc.co.uk/future/artic...).
Let's leave fish to those for whom it is strictly essential!
With the latest revelations about our warming seas, coupled with ongoing acidification in the Climate Emergency and largely unchecked pollution, fishing deals need to be part of how fishing itself is protected. No end to the Climate Emergency and ecological neglect, fewer fish...
🐙 Yet another example of growing ocean inequity.

Frédéric Le Manach et al. find that public subsidies were disproportionately concentrated in a small part of the EU fishing fleet 🎣

I have never worried about crime traveling to Europe, not even when I did it as a white woman traveling by herself. On the other hand I drove across the entire state of Arkansas without stopping to pee because of their bathroom laws targeting trans people. So, yknow.
I’m in several online travel groups, mostly for typical European destinations. Without fail, 70% of the posts are white Americans asking about all the crime. How to avoid the crime. How to eat without being crimed. Crime, crime, crime.

What is wrong with people? Don’t answer that.

the thing about “ICE needs training” is that Jonathan Ross was a ten year DHS vet and a firearms instructor

he’s the kind of guy they get training from

the whole institution is rotten, throw it out
Democrats officially going all in on the mealy mouthed “ICE needs training” narrative.

No. ABOLISH ICE.
WARNER: It used to take 5 to 6 months to get trained. They've now lowered the training period to 47 days. Why 47 days? Because Donald Trump's the 47th president. Tell me that's a rational approach

KERNEN: I'm not taking that bait

WARNER: Joe! You can't pick your facts
