For me, 100% drumming. I got into it 3 years ago. Even when my teacher has me working exclusively on technique (instead of on a song), it's thrilling to see my skills growing. I have to be completely in the moment, focused intensely but staying loose, equally present in body & mind. Best thing ever
Hating things is for chumps. Tell me about what you LOVE. And why. And what it means to you. I love hearing about people's passions. I don't give a good gotdamn about what you hate. 🖤

Knitting Without Tears, by Elizabeth Zimmerman
omg. Kat Abughazaleh just posted that if she's elected, she'll swear in on a copy of Octavia Butler's Parable of the Sower.

If you were elected to public office (never mind whether you'd ever actually run), what book would you swear in on?

Shingles vaccine, man that sucked! Couldn't lift my arm high enough to brush my teeth.

But I watched my dad and my grandma suffer with shingles and I'd do the vaccine annually if I had to rather than go through the kind of pain I saw them in.

This article is giving big 'we're looking to find the guy responsible for this' vibes.

WSJ all: 'we're so mystified that the insurance companies can't maintain accurate databases'

GTFO. You know perfectly well that it's because if patients can't book appointments, insurance companies save $$$.

Well, he's completely fucked over homebuilding with tariffs on materials and ICE terrorizing the workforce so the only way to make homeownership accessible would be extending our terms of debt servitude, I guess

I turned in the same essay twice in the same high school class, just wrote a different title at the top and a different date. Don't need AI to be a slacker if your teacher DGAF! This was in 1981
I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

What foods do you love that you fully acknowledge make you a pervert for loving them?

I think maybe the Descendents?
Who’s the most famous person you went to high school with?

For me, it's the actress Izabela Vidovic! 🎬🎞️

Space Island One! Sexy Eurotrash cast, premise is that space exploration is all for-profit companies instead of governments and some of the plots involve the corporation interfering or cutting corners in ways that endanger the crew
Everyone has a 1-2 season TV show they sorely miss and not enough people knew about that you are always praising the heavens about.

What's yours?

Small good thing: spent 10 minutes in my sideyard watching a monarch butterfly struggling out of its cocoon in the sunshine. We have it all: tiny caterpillars, big fat ones getting ready to pupate, cocoons hanging off the undersides of patio furniture and fence posts, empty cocoons AND butterflies

Age verification? The first I heard of Matt Groening was reading Life in Hell when it was being syndicated weekly
Age verification? The first time I saw The Simpsons was on The Tracey Ullman Show.
Age verification? I audiotaped network TV shows with a cassette recorder.
