Ahhh
Chicagoans had campaigns to buy out local tamale vendors who couldn't go out on the street and redistribute that food to families in need! Always good to find multiple ways to help in one fell swoop.
I was at my kid's school the other day and someone mentioned that the PTO had bought taco platters for the teachers and staff.

Support for a struggling business, food for people who need a nice gesture. All day, every day, these are the little-but-huge things that make a difference.

Don Lemon was not the only journalist arrested -- Georgia Fort was as well. Don Lemon has the resources to come out of this just fine. Georgia Fort may not. Let's make sure the focus is on both of them.
"As a member of the press, I filmed the church protest a few weeks ago and now I'm being arrested for that," Indipendent journalist Georgia Fort said. "It's hard to understand how we have a Constitution, Constitutional rights, when we can just be arrested for being a member of the press."
Journalists Don Lemon, Georgia Fort arrested in connection with church protest against ICE
Lemon's attorney said he was taken into custody by federal officers Thursday night in Los Angeles, where he was covering the Grammy Awards.

There are literally years of scientific studies showing that behavior does not change when body cams are worn, other than the fact that sometimes they are turned off.

trauma is not a contest but the degree to which all these national people are treating everything in MN—from the attacks to the resistance tactics—as novel goes to show how much of a fail it was from the people who had the biggest platforms here to support us.

Alex from our time working together, while he was in nursing school. Later, he moved to ICU, working as a nurse to support critically ill Veterans. He had such a great attitude. We’d chat between patients about trying to get in a mountain bike ride together. Will never happen now

Alex Pretti, the man shot by ICE in Minneapolis, appears to have previously worked with the federal government at the VA.

There is a photo of him on the VA website, where he’s cited as part of a medical research team.

In Illinois we have a primary to replace Durbin in six weeks and no one is talking about it. This week one of the tipsheets here was focused on the mayoral being a year away. Shit is real broken.

YES, and, to those around the country (LA, DC, Chicago, etc.) who did it before the national media were paying attention.
We owe an incredible debt to the Minnesotans who are on the streets protesting and documenting what is happening.

If you’re not from here, I need to explain this execution was on Eat Street, a commercial corridor of restaurants and coffee shops that literally everyone goes to. Normies, queermos, weirdos, neighborhood folks. Whatever that place is in your city, imagine ICE executing someone in cold blood there.

At 26th and Nicolett in Minneapolis this morning—

Feds have just shot another person in the streets. Furious community members are gathering. State police and conservation cops here in front of ~50 federal agents.

There are an incredible number of examples of this from Chicago. There's a reason whistles spread rapidly here and to other cities from here.
Another question I came here with was: how effective are the whistles and honking? Does it stop abductions? And the answer is, surprisingly to my cynical self, yes, and often. I have talked to so many people who have successfully interrupted kidnappings.

This is how it felt in Chicago for 2+ months this fall, and we expect to be targeted again this spring. It was like this for all residents, no matter their color or citizenship status. LA, DC, and Chicago were mostly ignored by the national media/electeds. Let's not allow MSP to have the same fate.
I don't know what else to tell you. I am hanging on by a thread. And, again, I'm on easy mode by local standards.

Every single Democratic elected official that *isn't* talking about what ICE and CBP are doing right now is just incredibly out of touch.

This part absolutely rips my heart to shreds. The trauma this poor family had to suffer is incredible, and more importantly, unnecessary.
Minnesota: "School officials say the [5-year-old] child was used as bait. They say [ICE] agents made little Liam knock on the door to ask to be let in in order to see if anyone else was home."

Again. Dems need to be saying now that any future admin will not honor this and will return the island if he is so foolish and evil

That’s how you “apologize” preemptively reject this. He wants a legacy to change the maps (like golf of America). Tell him now they will never be changed.

If you think the thing that made Chicago stand out is the priests, I have a whistle to sell you.
Every city they have terrorized has fought back in its own way. LA had protests and cell videos. DC had annoyed feds and grand-jury no-bills. Chicago had priests. Charlotte had angry grandma scaring feds off her lawn. The Twin Cities are showing sheer, dedicated, relentless presence.
Also this quote makes me want to run through a wall
