You know what would have been impressive. Blocking his nomination when we all knew he was an antivaxxer who would nominate Pestilence to run the CDC. That would have been the time to save lives.
The Senate blocked a Democratic effort to repeal RFK Jr's regulation eliminating notice requirements, public comment, and other public process around HHS rulemaking.

It failed 50-50, with Collins, Murkowski, and Tillis joining Dems.

The idea that Ben Shapiro and Bari Weiss are going to lead the push against conspiracy theories on the right is fucking laughable. They both supported Trump, the president of conspiracy theory land. The Birtherism/Qanon/eating the pets guy. Get. Fucked.
It’s normal for the head of CBS news to weigh in on internal squabbles inside the conservative movement, right?

This is taking to long just say the 14 words already.
Sounds just like Chapter 15 of Mein Kampf.

As a white millennial man in his 40s who can’t get a job I at least have the decently to blame it on the collapse of academia under meritocracy/fascism and the fact that I’m fairly mid.
One problem with this take is the number of high profile white millennial men in the media...

One of the cowardly GOP senators who’s retiring rather than confront the monster he helped create was on the daily arguing that conservatism is about preserving institutions that work. Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. The last institution they tried to preserve was straight marriage.

We grew up being told “don’t trust stuff on the internet” and yet the loss of being able to trust literally any image or video is still incredibly depressing.
this field biologist does a great job highlighting the insidiousness of AI editing

these one-click AI edit buttons are incredibly appealing to many photographers, amateurs and professionals alike, and are framed as innocuous

this is worth sharing and educating people about

Here I go reading again! (This book looks amazing)
The biggest obstacle to winning a progressive agenda for public school finance is the reactionary politics that lets parents opt out of their schools, their districts, and their taxes.

Here’s my review of @schooldaves.bsky.social’s great new book!

The “weak men make bad times” quote is so central to right-wing thinking, and it’s about more than just explaining the present, it’s about justifying a regiment of cruelty to make the next generation of “strong men” who will wipe away these “bad times”. French is just momentarily off key.

I saw a post recently saying humans are more susceptible to delusions than they think. This is true but I also think it obscures a larger truth: all humans are delusional. Every one of our experiences is filtered through delusions, the only question is how intense they are.

Easily a top 10 punchline.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development said Thursday that it was opening an investigation into housing policies in Boston, scrutinizing whether the city discriminated against white people.
HUD Accuses Boston of Racial Discrimination in Housing Policies
The Department of Housing and Urban Development is investigating whether the city’s focus on affordable housing for people of color violated federal law.

Helpful PSA. I still remember the day I got out of work in Times Square and didn’t know this was a thing. And I had to go meet people. At a bar. Nobody should ever have to confront SantaCon unaware.
Heads up, New Yorkers: SantaCon is tomorrow

The FEMA camp conspiracy theories will now come on official FEMA letterhead.
SCOOP — Gregg Phillips, a conspiracy theorist with no emergency management experience who helped produce the election-denying documentary ‘2000 Mules’ with Dinesh D’Souza and has faced numerous legal inquiries, has been named head of FEMA’s Office of Response and Recovery.

My story:
Conspiracy theorist election denier given FEMA’s second-most important role
Gregg Phillips will lead the Office of Response and Recovery, “the heart of what FEMA does.”

Probably a bad sign when you can’t fill your right wing bracket without including at least 3 antisemitic conspiracy theorists, one of whom proudly identifies as a Nazi.
The Recount casually adds a Nazi who promotes sexual violence, believes Hitler is cool, and the Holocaust never happened to a Political Creator of the Year Bracket? Why are so many helping to further mainstream this person? They even included a bio for him in the post! "His Groyper army"!!!!
