Yes, we all got on each other's nerves. Some of us listened. Some of us dug our heels in. Some of us came in with an open mind. Some of us lamented being urban planners when we didn't go to school for that. Some of us had zesty commentary. Some of us kept our mouths shut.

Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

“There were early concerns that fare-free travel would heap extra burdens on bus drivers, drawing homeless people or anything-goes behavior. Yet several drivers said that not having to ask passengers for payment or transfers has led to less friction with riders.”

This is happening everywhere, including here.
At least 4,900 Minnesotans are at risk of being pushed to the streets because of Trump’s cuts to housing - children, seniors, veterans.

In Minnesota, we’ll do everything we can to stand up for our neighbors in need, but this decision will be devastating.

'A drastic cut': New HUD rules affect 1,600 beds for homeless in Northeastern Minnesota
Last week, the Trump administration said only 30% of the national Continuum of Care program’s $3.9 billion can be used for permanent housing, down from approximately 90% this year.

Did you know that faith-based properties can develop affordable housing on their land? The good folks at Trinity Community Commons in East Nashville are using their former church lot to do just that. They’re on the show today to tell us how they’re making it happen, and why it matters. 💛

Some news: tomorrow at 9am, Ted Koppel + CBS Sunday Morning will air a two-part story on the devastating surge of full-time workers being pushed into homelessness.

I'll be interviewed along with two families from There Is No Place for Us. It would mean a lot if you'd watch and help spread the word.

This is why I raise awareness…its not happening throughout Nashville. Why is the largest public housing community and surrounding houses with NO driveways the ones who get to be made an example of???
Oh my, they don’t notify us of street sweep days and just go around the cars. Although last week the driver asked a neighbor to text me to move my street parked car- I didn’t. Also didn’t get towed or ticketed. Call me crazy but that doesn’t seem fair at all.

I am not jazzed about the shutdown vote, but the downward pressure on local communities to maintain essential food access isn't sustainable, either -

especially in a state like TN with a governor doing the bare minimum.
