The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.
Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.

AF1 should be grounded and all non-essential presidential scheduling events canceled during a government shut-down.

1. ACA rates skyrocket.
2. GOP floods the zone with messaging that the problem is the ACA itself so it must be repealed.
3. The GOP messaging succeeds because the same milquetoast, mealy-mouthed Democrats who cut this deal are the same ones who SUCK AT PREEMPTIVE AND COUNTER MESSAGING.

A leader would not have lost eight colleagues tonight. This happened because you let it happen or because you’ve totally lost control of the caucus in one of the most important moments since you’ve been Democratic leader. Either way, it’s on you. You need to step down. We need someone who can lead.
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis
For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare
We will keep fighting

In 2016, before Trump was even in office implementing tariffs on a whim, China bought 26.1 million metric tons of US soybeans. What exactly was the point of these tariffs aka tax on US consumers?

What happened to the art, furniture and historical artifacts in the East Wing prior to demolition? In Trump’s first term in office, he and his family tried to abscond with items belonging to the US government. Why should we expect anything different this time?

Once he rigs the House maps, Trump no longer has to worry about polling or appealing to anyone other than himself. He doesn’t even have to worry about future prosecution. It’ll be an all id presidency - nothing to constrain his impulses.

I never thought Republicans would tolerate:
- increased taxes
- federal interference at state/local level
- imprisoning US citizens w/out due process
- destruction of the US farmer
- cutting research $$ (if only from an economic standpoint)
- US armed forces on our streets
- bulldozing the WH

this is the telling thing about all the billionaire hysteria
they would literally rather set more money on fire propping up the most uncharismatic sex pest who ever lived than they’d pay in additional taxes

And they all would rather personally give him 90% of their money than pay 1% more in taxes.
It's bribery and corruption, a protection racket. But another way to describe money given to the government under threat of punishment is taxation, here imposed unilaterally and arbitrarily by the executive without the legislature.
Ship money is the analogy, if you're up on 17th C. English history.

IMO, it’s the symbolism. There’s nothing Trump can do that will elicit pushback from Republicans. Not jailing US citizens without due process, not gutting cancer research, not taking bribes, not even bulldozing the WH. Now, they’re rigging the maps so not even the people will be able to say stop.
It’s far from the most important thing, morally right now, or in terms of the human stakes, but the ballroom thing is really breaking my brain.
