My child will never hold office because of this account. Fluent in cursing and sarcasm. Connoisseur of crappy candy.
Maduro should have done what US citizens do and just get a bump stock.

Very surprising that the president who forced himself on women and girls without facing any consequences thinks he can force himself on countries without facing any consequences.

If only Maduro would have complied. The Trump has left the regime in place because they’ve installed (or think they’ve installed) a puppet president. Someone they can manipulate and control. They don’t care about the Venezuelan people or democracy.

So what was the point? There‘s no regime change. Maduro’s VP is in charge. She herself has been accused of human rights violations and being involved in drug cartels. The Trump admin had negotiated this very scenario with Venezuela's VP but with Maduro exiled to Turkey and without military action.
A day after President Trump declared that the U.S. planned to “run” Venezuela for an unspecified period, Defense Department officials said there were no U.S. military personnel in the country. But a force of 15,000 troops on land nearby and on a dozen warships remain “at a high state of readiness.”

The same ’conservatives’ in the US who cheered when Trump removed temporary protective status from Venezuelans living in the US.
A whole lotta conservatives VERY concerned about the evils being inflicted upon the poor Venezuelans by a man whom they had never heard of before this year. 🙄

A CBS News staffer told me this after Tony Dokoupil kicked off his CBS Evening News tenure tonight with a lengthy Pete Hegseth interview:

"If this is what Bari and Tony’s CBS Evening News is going to look like, then the we may as well just call ourselves Trump Administration State TV. Pathetic."

The US had a deal with the current VP of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez, where Maduro would be exiled to Turkey and she would remain in power and work with the US on oil. www.miamiherald.com/news/nation-...
Exclusive: Venezuelan leaders offered U.S. a path to stay in power without Maduro
Delcy and Jorge Rodríguez used Doha backchannels to offer Washington a 'Cartel Light' plan for a managed Venezuela transition that keeps chavismo in power.

She is accused of being involved with cartels and drug trafficking. She has been sanctioned by the US for her involvement in human rights violations and undermining democracy. Her brother, Jorge, is President of the National Assembly.

Reading the Maduro “indictment” I’m suddenly reminded of WHY Gitmo existed and Obama didn’t shut it down.
It’s because you can’t KIDNAP people, based on “evidence” you violated rights to obtain, and bring them to trial in U.S. courts.

Also, once we were in Panama, the legitimate President of Panama, then President-elect Endara was sworn into office. The US has yet to ensure the winner of the 2024 Venezuelan election is allowed to take office. In fact, Trump pooh-poohed that idea today in his press conference.
A lot of people keep bring up Panama in 1989

and one big difference is in Panama Manuel Noriega was never President or PM of Panama, he was de facto dictator as head of the military but never legally head of state or government

Tonight on the local news they interviewed someone from Venezuela. She thinks this is the first step towards freedom for Venezuela. Like Trump will ever let that happen if it gets in the way of his looting. He is basically Maduro-lite. And I’m not even sure of the ‘lite’ part.

So a lot of the charges against Maduro are either cocaine importation, which Trump pardoned Hernandez for, or owning machine guns, which is a constitutionally protected right in the US

This has been described as a law enforcement operation with the FBI being involved. If that’s the case, where was Kash Patel? Where was Pam Bondi? Where was the Vice President. They don’t appear in any of the photos that have been released from this morning‘s operation.

His statement should start with “President Trump lied to and circumvented Congress, the only body with the legal authority to declare war.
This means he has violated both national and international law & must be impeached.”

How hard was that?

Complimenting the military on carrying out illegal orders. Smdh

They're never giving up the White House. Congress will allow it.

Somebody over at The Bad Place said they were having echos of 2003. I’m like, bitch please. How about 1968? Or 1983, 1986, 1989….

Where was the VP when all this was going on? I’ve seen a photo of Hegseth, Rubio and Trump. They were at the press conference. Where the hell is Vance?

Perhaps now people will stop wishcasting about the US military refusing illegal orders. That's not a thing that happens. The 100% compliance rate with using civilian boats for target practice was a bit of a tell.

They ran war games on this during the first Trump administration. They found it would lead to widespread chaos.

It seems Trump’s beef is that Venezuela nationalized the oil industry after US companies built out the infrastructure. Even as Trump himself is nationalizing companies here by taking stakes for the US government. Intel, MP Materials, Lithium Americas, Trilogo Metals

Especially any foreign power that has investments in the US.
So does this open up the possibility that a foreign power will unilaterally bomb us and take OUR president? Asking for a nation.
