Canadians deserve to have a say over if, how, and to what extent AI is part of our future. The government is only listening to industry voices and that needs to change.

That's why I'm participating in the People's Consultation on AI, and I *strongly* encourage you to do the same.

@crof.bsky.social: At first, Mark Carney’s 2021 book “Value(s): Building a Better World for All” seems like an attempt to portray capitalism with a human face.

But after his Davos speech, it also offers glimpses of how he intends to build a resilient Canada next door to a collapsing power.

This is the funniest thing I've read in a long time... I can pinpoint the exact date when I no longer had shits to give. And it was quite a shock to a bunch of people who really depended on my giving a shit. 😂

If you're in the Ottawa area, please come out to our rally at Carleton University on Jan. 22 at noon, in support of AI protections for education workers. You absolutely don't have to RSVP to come, but if you feel comfortable, it helps us plan. Dress warm, bring a sign, bring a friend:

Texting with my American Uncle, about his plans to visit us in Canada in June.

And after sharing his travel plans, my Uncle texts, "Hopefully there won't be any international incidents to keep me from coming!!!!!"

Two years ago, this statement would have been paranoid; now it seems optimistic.

you say "i asked chatgpt"
i hear "i asked [an improv comedy group]"

an improv group wrote this report
instead of a therapist i use an improv comedy group
chatgpt is much like an improv comedy group

1) you are the audience, giving it prompts
2) it produces things roughly shaped like your prompt
3) it is trained to respond with Yes, And
4) it has the factual accuracy of improv
5) it does not understand comedy
This is fascinating: www.reddit.com/r/OpenAI/s/I...

Someone “worked on a book with ChatGPT” for weeks and then sought help on Reddit when they couldn’t download the file. Redditors helped them realized ChatGPT had just been roleplaying/lying and there was no file/book…

Apparently, engineers are dissing AI as well. Their concerns stem from the energy and water required, with a certain amount of acceptance that the energy sector is a big AI proponent, as they look to keep their profits high.

Why LLMs Are Less Intelligent Than Crows
