i have been reading Tom Ricks’ “Fighting the Good War” which is a military analysis of the civil rights movement, and one thing that comes abundantly across is that movement leaders and ordinary people made it a practice to refuse to fall into despair and cynicism.

I don't personally think much of the Nobel Prize Committee because of their history of terrible decisions like this, but it's still good to scream about bad behavior whenever it happens, and serves as a cathartic outlet if you need one.

I find stories of hauntings to be really bullshit most of the time because it's like "oh no, I woke up with mysterious bruises on my body after I had nightmares!" wow, same, I have that, too, but mine's caused by a connective tissue disorder and toss-turn anxiety that makes me thrash in my sleep.

One of the scariest things about the murder of Renee Good is how much she reminds me of my own mother. My mom often "blocks traffic" to stop and hand out food to folks with signs. She's also "interfered" with law enforcement tearing down encampments to try to talk to them down from their actions.
