You can't decarbonise with gas 🙅🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Two reasons why market forces can’t save the climate and environment. Firstly, climate and environmental damage are costs not captured by the market. Secondly, the fossil carbon (and now also tech) oligarchy has enough wealth and power to reshape the political economy away from the free market 1/

For what it's worth, Resolve is not even a member of the Australian Polling Council 🤷🏼‍♀️
Badly worded poll published by the SMH, which implies that it’s more costly overall/less affordable to reach net zero. Verging on a push poll.

Despite this, a majority of Australians still support net zero.

It's just been confirmed that Monash University is dropping Woodside as a partner because they don't align with their sustainable values. This is an incredible win for @stopwoodsidemonash.bsky.social who have run a dedicated grass roots campaign for years.

Journalists really need some education on Form 1s. They are not a permit or approval.

Hot take: the Coalition doesn't really care about net zero or climate, it's just their current proxy culture war. What do you reckon?

"The U.S., Canada, Australia, and Norway collectively increased their oil and gas production by nearly 40 percent since the Paris Agreement was adopted in 2015 to 2024"

Cool. And this doesn't even include coal...

For all the Fed Gov’s talk about domestic emissions reduction, they’re still dodging responsibility for the climate harm Aus exports daily. The ICJ’s recent ruling should be a wake-up call. #auspol #politas

🚨 We won! Charges dismissed for the first People’s Blockade defendants! ⚖️

A major win for the climate movement and protest rights in NSW. And against Minns’ anti-protest laws.

I recently realised I had, in my mind, merged Andy Coulson and Alistair Campbell into a single person with roughly half the CV of each.

Is going to prison the most necessary thing though? 1000s have been arrested. Would them going to prison make that much difference?
I’ve spent eight years trying to get people to take part in civil disobedience.

Only 300 have gone to prison in that time. It’s not enough. Real change needs 500, maybe 1,000, willing to act — and to do it together, in a single month.

That’s how policy shifts. That’s how history turns.

We underestimate 63-year-old white male know-it-alls at our peril. He's the reason EV sales are slow in Australia. He's the reason we don't have transmission lines or large scale renewable developments. And it's not because he fundamentally opposes them.
He *just hates* being wrong.

I cannot tell you much I needed to read this today. *Cries in very defeated climate campaigner*
Something this book really drilled home (scuse the pun) is that we're not stalled out on climate because scientists didn't model hard enough or campaigners didn't come up with the perfect message, but because the world's most powerful spent gazillions to sabotage action.
