My 3 climate home truths: 1) The climate damage from fossil fuels is permanent. 2) without an explicit plan by govts to quickly end fossil fuel use we’re losing the human friendly climate. 3) Without subsidies and a free pass on climate damage the fossil carbon corps assets are stranded. So much of our current politics is driven by our overcooked housing market. ON wouldn’t have the same pool of resentment to tap into if ordinary people weren’t financially crippled by their housing costs. The only pathway out is to pull every available lever.

Seeing that young man on the ground, held down by two NSW policemen, repeatedly punched in the kidneys on both sides, sickened me.
We can only hope that the inquiries into the police properly examine the brutality clearly on display.

I legitimately don't think I'll ever forget when Ilhan Omar asked where Afghans or Palestinians could go for justice if not the ICC or ICJ and dozens of Democrats legitimized the Republican smear that she was talking about the Taliban

A pathetic piece from Bongiorno in which he:
- whitewashes the visit of genocide enthusiast Isaac Herzog,
- positions Albanese as a statesman above the fray of extreme reactions, and
- completely ignores the influence of the Israel lobby.

Confirms the decision to cancel my subscription last year.
Israeli president Isaac Herzog praised Albanese as “an important world leader” for his legislative response to the massacre. It was the ultimate repudiation of Sussan Ley’s crude politicisation of the atrocity, writes Paul Bongiorno. satpa.pe/Txnhq2f

A totally legal org that supports non violent protest being portrayed as some nefarious criminal conspiracy.

Insanity.

But that’s billionaire Rupert Murdoch’s NY Post’s game. Getting working people to hate activists so billionaires can keep ripping them off.

Australia's household battery boom suffers from the same walled-garden ecosystem lock-in that's been enshittifying tech across so many different areas

Imagine what's going to happen when Tesla collapses under the weight of its own racism and bigotry, for instance......
Australia’s home battery boom risks locking households into closed ecosystems
Many households only realise after installation they’ve bought a battery system that is locked to a single manufacturer’s software.

Another Friday special
Today, under the cover of the Liberals tearing each other down, Labor has approved another coal mine extension.

Extending Middlemount to 2044 means Labor has now approved 35 fossil fuel projects.

In the middle of the climate crisis, they're approving more coal & gas.

Bit worried about whether the country can afford to bring in immigrants who share Angus’s “core values”; I mean there’s not much spare budget money to buy non existent water from them and even less critically endangered grassland for them to illegally poison 🤷.

the massive stupidity of #AUKUS, or
the failure to immediately rule out membership of Trump's highly dodgy 'Board of Peace',
Wong, Albanese and Marles are a clear and present danger to Australia's national interests. #auspol
I asked why the Albanese Government hasn't rejected Trump's invitation to join his so-called "Board of Peace."

The UK, France, New Zealand, Germany & others have refused to join, because it is cooked.

Minister Wong says Labor is still considering the invite. What's to consider?
