Been a while, but: hi! I took a break from social media while dealing with unemployment and immigration systems and the mental health stuff that accompanies those things. The state of things now: kids are both back in the UK and on my visa! I’m employed (at UNICEF, even!) and mostly functional! 1/
You can mess a kid up more by being an inconsistent, unpredictable parent than by being a fully absent one.

One of the many cool things at this conference: a frank discussion about the importance of challenging assumptions and biases in the pursuit of better science and more beneficial outcomes. An important discussion for many, many contexts. (She says, not looking at anyone specifically…)

Yes! Name the systems of power. The neuronormative paradigm is one of THE systems of power yet it has gone unnamed.

The history of schooling is the history of the neuronormative paradigm and neuronormative domination.

Just finished reading final student reflections after my AfAmStudies students finished reading “Wake” by @wakerevolt.bsky.social

This book hits so hard; both the stories of women-led revolts and the story of the persistence of Dr Hall inspired my students.

Y’all should read this book. #APAFAM 🗺️

Also: still autistic, still incredibly lucky to be one of the 22(ish)% of uni-educated autistic adults in employment, but no longer working in autism research because I couldn’t find a single community engagement role hiring, and even if I could’ve, I was unbelievably burnt out by the experience.

I need you all to know that there is a very specific era of Hoosier Millennial who grew up with the Pacers-Knicks rivalry and is watching all of this unfold with genuine childlike wonder.

It’s great cause we’re not yet the age where this is bad for our hearts.
Indiana has come back from down 15 or more FIVE times, the most such comebacks in a single postseason in the play-by-play era (since 1997).

Pacers are 5-3 when they go down by 15 or more this playoffs.

This is a really fun interview with Alexander Skarsgård about Murderbot. Fun insights into his interpretation of the character. Mad props to him for being 100% consistent about Murderbot's "it" pronouns, and you can watch the interviewer picking it up. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGxK...
