It's hard to overstate the impact Taylor had as an AIDS fundraiser. $100 million is an estimate that doesn't include nine-figure bequests to AIDS charities.
there’s a scene in the new documentary where Elizabeth Taylor is talking about the stigma of AIDS and how she got involved in the movement and it’s fucking everything

Amber Fellows, a Ypsilanti Township councilmember, tells us why:

This was probably the most intense 90 minutes I've ever spent at the theater. We need more horror plays. I'd recommend this but the rest of the run is sold out!

IRS officially saying Direct File is dead. This was clear from back in April when they told engineers to stop working on the project (and the leaders of that team have since left government). Here is what I wrote then.

As much as the Trumpists claim to disavow the War on Terror, they walk a path paved by the most powerful vice president in U.S. history.

ICE has now sent at least 72 people to prisons in African countries where they have no ties.

Via two ICE flights to Rwanda, two to Eswatini, three to Ghana and one to S. Sudan.

Some had US convictions but had finished their sentences. None have convictions in the places where they're now jailed.

Photos coming out of Western AK are devastating.

Hardest hit are indigenous villages off road system, many miles by air from supplies. Most built on river deltas w/ no high ground to which to escape.

Cuts to NASA/NOAA mean worse weather data. Cuts to EPA mean no grants for erosion control. Etc.
These are mostly indigenous communities in Alaska that have been slammed by the storm.

The local manager of a small airline fleet says he is the only one doing evacuations right now!

Defund FEMA and people are abandoned. Defund public media and no-one knows.

FYI, today is Indigenous Peoples Day.

Let’s be clear about this:

They summoned the top military brass home from their posts, told them the Pentagon would no longer enforce rules of engagement b/c the military’s mission was to “hurt people and break things,” and then explicitly pointed them AT AMERICAN CITIES.
